The Department of International Studies at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México
(ITAM) invites interested candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position
based in Mexico City. The expected start date is 1 August 2027.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
The position is intended for candidates with training in International Relations, specializing
in international security.
Additionally, the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas will be
particularly valued:

- China and Asia Pacific
- United States political system and foreign policy
- North American politics and integration

ABOUT ITAM AND THE POSITION
ITAM is a private, non-profit Mexican university recognized for its academic excellence and
for its influence in the formation of leaders in the public, private, academic, and social
sectors. ITAM maintains a relatively small academic community and a strong commitment
to excellence in both teaching and research.

The position offers a salary in Mexican pesos that is comparable to academic salaries in the
field of International Relations in Europe and the United States.

Successful candidates will be expected to:

- Conduct scholarly research and publish in leading international academic presses and

peer-reviewed journals.
- Teach two courses per semester (in Spanish or English).
- Supervise undergraduate theses in the BA program in International Relations.
- Participate in institutional development activities.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D.



degree or be close to completing one by the time of
appointment. Candidates whose native language is not Spanish are expected to achieve
proficiency within three years.
