About the role

As an Assistant Department Leader, you will be responsible for supporting the overall leadership, development, execution, and continuous improvement of the cocktail and bar beverage program at Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo. This role ensures that all bar experiences reflect the resort’s unique sense of place, luxury service standards, and culinary vision while supporting financial objectives, brand identity, and exceptional guest satisfaction. You will lead by example, develop your team, and foster a culture of continuous learning, service excellence, and operational consistency.

What you will do

· Oversee the daily operation of the bars, ensuring efficient service, consistent quality, and adherence to Four Seasons standards.

· Support the leadership, development, and continuous improvement of the resort’s cocktail and beverage program.

· Ensure all beverage experiences reflect the resort’s unique sense of place, luxury positioning, and culinary vision.

· Manage and maintain the wine list and beverage program, ensuring consistency, quality, profitability, and alignment with the resort’s overall concept.





· Work closely with the Restaurant General Manager and Culinary team to develop and execute beverage initiatives that complement the resort’s culinary offerings.

· Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the bar team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

· Coordinate scheduling, staffing, training, and daily assignments to ensure operational needs are consistently met.

· Conduct and coordinate product knowledge and beverage training to maintain a high level of colleague knowledge, service consistency, and productivity.

· Ensure Four Seasons service procedures and standards are consistently followed throughout all bar operations.

· Monitor beverage quality, presentation, preparation, and service to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

· Ensure sanitation, hygiene, cleanliness, and organization standards are maintained in accordance with Four Seasons standards and applicable regulations.

· Maintain a visible presence in the operation, actively engaging with guests and colleagues and supporting the team during service.

· Handle guest complaints, concerns, special requests, and group requirements with professionalism and appropriate follow-up.

· Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and other departments to ensure operational needs and guest expectations are met.

· Support beverage cost control, inventory management, ordering, and appropriate utilization of products in collaboration with the leadership team.

· Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, product quality, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

· Support the implementation of new cocktails, beverage experiences, promotions, and other initiatives that enhance the resort’s beverage offering.

· Participate in the selection, onboarding, training, and development of bar colleagues.

· Provide recognition and constructive feedback while actively supporting colleague engagement and career development.

· Promote good public relations and maintain positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and internal and external partners.

· Remain adaptable to work different shifts, weekends, holidays, and business periods as required.

· Adapt to the unique operational environment of a remote luxury resort and actively contribute to a collaborative and service-oriented culture.

· Uphold the Four Seasons Golden Rule when interacting with internal and external customers.

What you bring





· Minimum 5 years of experience in fine dining bars, luxury hospitality, or a comparable high-end beverage operation.

· Proven experience in mixology and cocktail program development; recognition or participation in prestigious mixology competitions such as World Class or similar competitions is highly desirable.

· Wine and spirits education or recognized certifications are preferred.

· Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beverage trends, service techniques, and beverage program management.

· Experience managing and maintaining wine lists and beverage programs with consistency and attention to quality and profitability.

· Previous experience leading, training, motivating, and developing bar teams.

· Strong understanding of beverage cost control, inventory management, and operational standards.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, guests, and culinary teams.

· Excellent English and Spanish language skills preferred.

· Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills, with a commitment to creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

· Ability to maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced luxury environment.

· Strong guest service skills and the ability to professionally manage complaints, concerns, and special requests.

· Ability to work closely with Restaurant and Culinary leadership to create cohesive food and beverage experiences.

· Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to live and work in a remote resort location.

· Flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and other schedules based on business needs.
