SAP PP Consultant

The SAP PP (Production Planning) Consultant is a hands-on functional and technical expert responsible for designing, configuring, and delivering scalable, high-performance manufacturing and production planning solutions within SAP PP.

The Consultant will translate complex manufacturing, production planning, and shop-floor operations into robust SAP solutions, ensuring seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA and related supply chain modules. They will work directly with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, design and configure solutions, test integrations, troubleshoot production issues, and support successful go-lives across multiple sites.

While this role may include mentoring junior consultants and collaborating with leadership, the primary focus is SAP PP solution design, configuration, integration, and deployment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, configure, and implement SAP PP solutions aligned with manufacturing requirements and SAP best practices.
- Partner directly with manufacturing, supply chain, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate production workflows into detailed SAP functional designs.
- Perform hands-on SAP PP configuration, including material requirements planning (MRP), demand management, production orders, planned orders, capacity planning, scheduling, bills of material (BOMs), work centers, and routings.
- Configure and support discrete manufacturing and repetitive manufacturing processes as required.
- Support production order lifecycle processes, including order creation, release, material staging, confirmations, goods movements, and settlement integration.
- Configure and optimize MRP and production planning parameters to support material availability, capacity requirements, and production schedules.
- Design and support integration between SAP PP and related modules, particularly MM, EWM/WM, QM, SD, PM, and FI/CO.
- Support SAP S/4HANA manufacturing processes and integration between production planning, warehouse operations, procurement, quality, and finance.
- Collaborate with ABAP and technical teams to design RICEFW objects, enhancements, interfaces, reports, forms, and workflows supporting manufacturing requirements.




- Develop functional specifications and work closely with development teams through build, testing, and deployment.
- Support and execute data migration, master data validation, system testing (unit, SIT, UAT), cutover, and go-live activities.
- Troubleshoot complex SAP PP production issues and perform root-cause analysis across configuration, master data, integration, and custom development.
- Provide expert-level support during hypercare and drive continuous improvement of production planning and manufacturing processes.
- Stay current with SAP S/4HANA PP and manufacturing innovations and recommend new functionality that can improve operational performance.
- Mentor junior consultants on SAP PP configuration and manufacturing process best practices as a secondary responsibility.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Work Experience
- 7+ years of experience in SAP Supply Chain/Manufacturing modules, with at least 5+ years of hands-on SAP PP experience.
- Strong hands-on configuration experience with SAP PP in SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
- Successful delivery of at least two full-cycle SAP PP implementations, including requirements gathering, blueprinting/design, configuration, testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare.
- Strong experience with production planning processes including MRP, demand management, production orders, capacity planning, scheduling, BOMs, work centers, and routings.
- Experience integrating SAP PP with MM, EWM/WM, QM, SD, PM, and FI/CO.
- Experience supporting manufacturing master data and its impact on production planning and execution.
- Ability to design and document detailed functional specifications for technical and development teams.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA manufacturing implementations, migrations,



or transformation programs strongly preferred.
- General or multi-site manufacturing rollout experience preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of production planning and manufacturing business processes.
- Deep hands-on expertise with SAP PP configuration, including MRP, production orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, capacity planning, scheduling, and demand management.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing processes from demand and material planning through production execution and finished-goods receipt.
- Strong understanding of integration between SAP PP and MM, EWM/WM, QM, SD, PM, and FI/CO.
- Understanding of production supply and material staging processes between SAP PP and SAP EWM/WM.
- Proven experience in full-cycle SAP PP implementations, including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Ability to analyze complex production planning and manufacturing issues and identify configuration, master data, integration, or development solutions.
- Ability to design and document detailed functional specifications, process flows, configuration documents, and test scenarios.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on direct solution delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain SAP solutions to manufacturing users, business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership.
- Proven ability to translate between manufacturing business requirements and SAP technical solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project methodologies.
- Experience with cloud-based or SAP S/4HANA deployments preferred.
- SAP PP or SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing certification preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and collaboration tools such as MS Teams.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
