The Role

We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join a high-impact engineering engagement supporting a global leader in payments technology. In this role, you'll take ownership of complex, service-level problems that span multiple teams, defining and driving the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams and product stakeholders, championing engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement while mentoring engineers and shaping the technical direction of the platform.

What You'll Do

- Own complex problems with dependencies across services and facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive resolution
- Write, review, and enhance application/service code, promoting code reviews, scanning, and other standard development practices to ensure high-quality production artifacts
- Define, design, and develop procedures and solutions at the service level to meet business requirements, optimizing for high throughput and low latency in transaction streams
- Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in collaboration with product partners




- Identify opportunities and build roadmaps to enhance primary services and functions
- Automate and simplify software delivery and development practices, championing automation across the team
- Drive seamless integration across connected services to meet end-user expectations
- Promote a blameless postmortem culture to identify root causes of incidents and apply learnings
- Introduce new technologies and architectural approaches in line with enterprise guidelines
- Advocate for strong engineering principles beyond the immediate team or platform
- Provide development and architecture guidance to team members
- Build relationships and effective partnerships across organizations
- Conduct technical interviews for engineering hires, helping raise the overall performance bar
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach that demonstrates engineering excellence
- Encourage knowledge-sharing within engineering guilds/programs to promote reuse of patterns, libraries, and practices

Requirements

- Ability to write secure code in three or more languages (e.g., C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript) and familiarity with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and common vulnerabilities.
- Experience building applications using open frameworks to promote reuse and reduce development time (e.g., Spring Boot, Steeltoe, Angular, DXP, or similar).
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including analysis of core, heap, and thread dumps to resolve coding errors




- Ability to document and coach teams on development practices and coding guidelines (branching, peer reviews, library use, logging, scanning rules, test-driven development, error handling)
- Solid understanding of advanced design patterns (e.g., service-to-worker, MVC, API gateway, intercepting filter, dependency injection, lazy loading, Gang of Four patterns) to implement efficient code
- Experience conducting technical reviews of code across applications and dependencies to identify anti-patterns and drive continuous refactoring
- Ability to articulate technical debt and operational issues to stakeholders to inform prioritization decisions
- Understanding of system architecture and infrastructure capacity planning (database, compute, network, storage) to support delivery timelines
- Experience improving customer experience by reducing mean time to mitigate (MTTM) incidents and maintaining high availability (99.95% or higher)
- Experience simplifying deployments and eliminating infrastructure inconsistencies using standardized platforms, ephemeral instances, and automation
- Experience orchestrating release workflows and pipelines using industry-standard CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, AWS/Azure pipelines, XL Release, or similar)
- Experience configuring vulnerability scanning and software composition analysis tools (e.g., Sonar, Checkmarx, Nexus, JFrog XRay, Veracode, or similar)
- Experience defining, organizing, and reporting on test runs across releases, including unit, component, system, and regression testing
- Experience conducting performance testing (load, spike, breakpoint, endurance) to understand application/service limits and behavior
- Strong communication skills
- Advanced English Level is required: B2+/C1
