Technical Test Lead – Test Automation

We are looking for an experienced Technical Test Lead to join a test automation team supporting the development of a major AAA video game.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership to a small, specialized QA team. You will oversee test planning, regression cycles, automated testing, defect resolution, and the continuous improvement of test automation frameworks and processes.

Responsibilities

- Define and implement test strategies throughout the AAA game development lifecycle.
- Establish technical testing objectives and priorities.
- Lead regression testing and manual playthroughs to identify complex defects.
- Maintain and expand automated test suites across multiple platforms.
- Use automation and performance tools to improve test coverage and identify bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, production, and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve high-priority issues.
- Oversee the defect lifecycle, including documentation, follow-up, and resolution.
- Translate complex technical findings into actionable information for stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical liaison between the game studio and centralized Technology and QA teams.
- Mentor and coach a small technical team on QA best practices and industry tools.
- Drive technical growth, testing quality, and continuous improvement within the team.

Required Qualifications




- 4+ years of professional experience in software testing or quality assurance.
- 1+ year of experience focused on test automation and/or scripting.
- 1+ year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with test planning, QA best practices, and team mentorship.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Java, Python, C#, Bash, Lua, or PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, JUnit, or similar.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing AAA video games throughout multiple phases of the development lifecycle.
- Experience with first-person shooter or action RPG titles.
- Knowledge of commercial game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Experience with CI/CD systems such as TeamCity, Jenkins, or Horde.
- Experience with test case management tools such as QMetry or TestRail.
- ISTQB certification or equivalent.
