Buyer (Direct material)Direct Material Buyers will be responsible for obtaining direct material cost reduction through identification of VAVE opportunities, competitive quotes, negotiation with suppliers and other cost reduction tools.
Key activities and responsibilities:Identification of cost reduction opportunities through the study of historical and projected material consumption.Interaction with the different functional areas (Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing) to understand business needs and ensure that this is reflected in negotiated contractsDevelopment of win/win relationships with suppliers to enable ECI to achieve the objectives identified in the business plan.Analysis of direct material spend listClassification of spend by categoryDevelopment of cost reduction plans and tactics aligned with category strategyExecution of quotations and negotiations according to strategyImplementation of long-term contracts that generate year-over-year price reductionsAssisting operational buyers in resolving supplier issuesQualifications:A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.Fluent EnglishExperience, Knowledge and Skills:A minimum 3 years of direct material purchasing experience in some specific commodity or categoryExperience in purchasing raw materials such as Mechanical and Electrical components, Cables and Accessories is a plusDemonstrated Purchasing experience related to RFQ processesSolid knowledge of benchmarking, volume spend and savings achievements and strategies development and implementationStrong experience in high level supplier negotiations and competitive quotations and contracts managementAbility to analyze costs and understand material cost driversExecution of strategies and tactical application for product cost reductionsExcellent interpersonal communication, customer service, and organization skills.
