Introduction We are seeking a highly motivated Virtualization Engineer to support the administration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise virtualization platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of virtualized infrastructure across compute, storage, and networking environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VMware technologies, infrastructure operations, troubleshooting, automation, backup and disaster recovery processes, and system lifecycle management.

The Virtualization

Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical systems and continuously improve operational efficiency.

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your Role and Responsibilities

- Administer and maintain virtualization infrastructure, including virtual machines, hosts, clusters, storage, and networking components to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents related to virtualization platforms, operating systems, storage, networking, and infrastructure services.
- Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and workload balancing to maintain platform scalability and meet business requirements.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including recovery testing, restore validation, and business continuity initiatives.
- Implement and maintain automation solutions for VM provisioning, monitoring, patching, reporting, and operational processes while supporting upgrades, lifecycle management, and technical refresh activities.

Required Education

- Bachelor's Degree

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, and virtual machine administration.
- Solid knowledge of virtualized storage and networking concepts, including SAN, NAS, VLANs, and virtual switching.
- Experience with performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution in enterprise virtualization environments.
- Knowledge of backup,



disaster recovery, and business continuity processes for virtual infrastructure.
- Experience with automation and scripting for infrastructure administration, provisioning, and operational efficiency.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

- Experience with AWS cloud services and integration of virtualized environments with cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, as well as monitoring and automation platforms.
