The Institute for Obesity Research was established to generate forefront knowledge through scientific rigor and analysis, developing ideas and innovative solutions to the problem of obesity through inter- and trans-disciplinary work and creating scientific-technological companies to improve the health and well-being of people and society.
The IOR presents an exciting opportunity for faculty to develop and lead
research activities to prevent and treat obesity and metabolic diseases
in Mexican and Latin American populations within Tecnologico de Monterrey and beyond.
We are comprised by four research units:
The Institute for Obesity Research invites ambitious researchers of all seniorities to
apply for faculty positions for the unit of Bioengineering in Health
to develop world-class interdisciplinary research at
Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Advanced healthcare materials
Assessment platforms
Cell engineering
Requirements
The idóneo candidate must possess strong leadership skills, communication and networking skills, a vast network of stakeholders, and an enthusiasm to carry out promising and exciting challenges.
Ph.D.
Bioengineering, Experimental Medicine, Molecular or Computational Biology, Food Science, Human Genetics or related.
A substantial publication record in high-impact journals (Q1/Q2) for the last five years
Advanced level in English language proficiency:



CEFR level C1 or TOEFL 600 points.
A sufficient level of Spanish proficiency is desirable but not required
Member of the National System of SECHIT ́s Researchers in Mexico or equivalent credentials
Proven experience in fund attraction, either national or international funding sources
Preference will be given to people with outstanding leadership potential and commitment to developing an innovative research agenda to produce scientific impact, technology development, and opportunities to establish technology-based entrepreneurship
Expected results
Secure external research funds
Publication of articles in Q1-Q2 journals as PI
Participation as an advisor in the graduate programs of the Institution
Teaching 25% of their time in an academic school of the candidate's discipline at Tec de Monterrey
Participation in national and international research networks and events
The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Researchers in IOR work in different facilities and campuses within Tec de Monterrey System, which provides a platform for interdisciplinary research and access to research labs and diverse populations among Mexican States.
