Summary The Automation Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and processes. They will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing manual workloads, and improving the accuracy of data and workflows through automation technologies. Working alongside other IT professionals, operations teams, and business unit leaders, this role is essential for enhancing efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enabling Deel to adapt to changing market demands effectively.

Responsibilities

- Design &
- Development: Design and develop automation solutions and custom integrations using appropriate technologies (low-code platforms, APIs, scripting languages) to meet business requirements and operational needs.
- Platform Implementation: Implement and configure integrations across key business platforms (Zendesk, Jira, Zapier, WorkBench, etc.), ensuring seamless data flow and optimal system performance.
- Workflow Optimization: Build, deploy, and maintain automated workflows that streamline business processes, reduce manual work, and improve operational efficiency across Customer Experience, Operations, and Customer Success departments.
- AI &
- Advanced Solutions: Identify and implement AI-powered solutions and enhancements such as ticket summarization, intelligent task routing, predictive analytics, and other machine learning-based automations.
- Technical Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and propose practical automation solutions.
- Code Quality &
- Documentation: Write clean, well-documented, maintainable code and automation configurations following best practices and team standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed solutions.
- Testing &
- Quality Assurance:



Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for all automations and integrations. Conduct thorough QA testing to ensure reliability, performance, and security before deployment.
- Monitoring &
- Maintenance: Monitor deployed automations and integrations for performance and reliability. Proactively identify issues, implement fixes, and optimize solutions based on usage data and feedback.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and automation best practices. Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and propose innovative solutions that leverage new tools and techniques.
- Vendor &
- Tool Evaluation: Assist in evaluating new automation tools, platforms, and services. Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations to support build vs. buy decisions.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to team documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base. Share learnings with team members and help mentor others on automation best practices and implemented solutions.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of professional experience in automation engineering, systems integration, or software development
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, JavaScript, Go, Java, etc.)
- Hands-on work using AI-powered agentic development methodologies (Claude Code, Codex, etc)
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing API integrations and system integrations
- Demonstrated experience with workflow automation platforms such as Zapier, Make, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar
- Experience with Zendesk, Jira, Salesforce, or similar SaaS systems.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, data formats (JSON, XML), and API authentication methods
- Solid grasp of database/datawarehouse fundamentals and ability to work with relational/non-relational databases.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and deploying applications to cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with Docker.
- Experience implementing LLM integrations or using APIs for AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- Knowledge of security best practices, OAuth/SSO, and secure credential management
- Previous experience in customer-facing support, operations, or success roles
- Experience with database design and SQL query optimization
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (DataDog, CloudWatch, ELK Stack, etc.)

- Data Transformation: Designing ETL processes and data transformation workflows to ensure data consistency across systems

- Our salary range reflects gross base salary. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission.

- Final pay is based on objective, job-related criteria including experience, skills, and location.
