Medical Records Legal Assistant
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Legal Assistant to support our Personal Injury team by managing medical record and billing requests, communicating with healthcare providers, and maintaining accurate case documentation.
The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working with case management systems and multiple communication channels. Previous legal experience is preferred; however, we will also consider high-potential candidates with strong administrative or customer service backgrounds.

Our client is a growing medical practice specializing in Family Medicine, Weight Loss Programs, Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), and Peptide Therapy. The practice serves a high volume of patients daily and requires a proactive, organized, and patient-focused Remote Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative operations.
This position plays a key role in patient communication, appointment coordination, laboratory follow-up, medication compliance tracking, and EHR documentation. The adecuado candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment, providing excellent patient service, and collaborating closely with providers and clinic staff to ensure continuity of care.
Schedule
· Full-time
· Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm EST
· Fully remote
Responsibilities
· Answer and manage inbound and outbound patient communications via phone, email, and patient portal.
· Support Family Medicine, Weight Loss, TRT, and Peptide Therapy programs.
· Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and laboratory testing requirements.
· Review laboratory results according to established protocols and standing orders.
· Communicate normal lab results to patients and escalate abnormal or critical findings to providers.
· Track recurring patient laboratory requirements and maintain compliance registries.
· Conduct outreach to patients regarding overdue labs, follow-up appointments, and treatment compliance.
· Document all patient interactions accurately within the EMR system.
· Assist with medication refill workflows following established provider protocols.
· Coordinate with laboratories such as Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp regarding orders, results, and discrepancies.
· Collaborate closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient care.
· Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
· Support general administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
· 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient, family practice, internal medicine, weight loss, wellness, or specialty clinic setting.
· Experience handling high-volume patient interactions and phone communications.
· Strong understanding of medical terminology, laboratory workflows, and patient care coordination.
· Experience with EHR/EMR systems (AdvancedMD preferred).
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
· Strong organizational, multitasking, and follow-up skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· CMA, RMA, CCMA, or similar certification preferred.
