Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for executing tactical purchasing activities that support production continuity, customer delivery requirements, and inventory control objectives. This role focuses on MRP message execution, purchase order placement and maintenance, supplier follow-up, and production support to ensure material availability while avoiding adverse impacts to inventory levels.

The position is primarily execution-oriented and supports operational purchasing needs through timely order management, supplier communication, delivery confirmation, Inventory level control and coordination with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Review and act on MRP messages, including new buy requirements, reschedule-in, reschedule-out, cancellation, and exception messages.
- Monitor and follow up on MRP requirements, purchase orders, and delivery schedule to prevent line stoppages.
- Create, release, update, and maintain purchase orders in accordance with approved purchasing requirements.




- Maintain purchasing records and system data to support accurate planning, receiving, and inventory visibility.
- Obtain and document supplier order confirmations, including acknowledged quantities, delivery dates, and lead times.
- Follow up with suppliers to confirm shipment status, resolve late deliveries, and address supply interruptions.
- Expedite, defer, or cancel purchase orders based on production demand, MRP signals, and inventory requirements.
- Communicate supplier delivery risks to production planning, materials, operations, and management as appropriate.
- Support resolution of supplier delivery discrepancies, short shipments, and order status issues.
- Support production schedules by ensuring required materials are ordered, confirmed, and delivered to meet operational needs.
- Coordinate with planning, production control, receiving, quality, and inventory teams to resolve material availability issues.
- Monitor critical shortages and take appropriate follow-up action to minimize disruption to production.
- Participate in daily or recurring production support meetings as needed to provide material status updates.
- Escalate supply constraints or delivery risks that may affect production continuity or customer commitments.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent) or business Administration, International Trade or related field
- Experience of 2 - 5 years.
- Authority to release, expedite or cancel purchase orders in accordance with demand changes.
- Manufacturing process and supply chain fundamentals.
- MRP/ERP Systems (AS400, Oracle, SAP, JDE or similar)
- Cost Analysis, BOMs and Inventory Control.
- Basic ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Incoterms and domestics/international logistics.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- APICS-CPIM Desirable
- General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Proficient English
