Construction Operations Manager

We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Construction Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day construction operations, build and manage a strong team, and ensure projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and on time.

This is a management and operations position. The right candidate must understand construction from the management side—how to organize people, coordinate projects, manage subcontractors and field teams, work with architects and other professionals, solve problems, and keep multiple projects moving forward.

The candidate does not need to be an architect or have worked as an architect. However, they must be comfortable working with architects, understanding construction plans and drawings, and coordinating between the plans, management, and what is happening in the field.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily construction operations and ensure projects stay organized, efficient, and on schedule.
- Build, organize, train, and manage a high-performing team.
- Manage employees, subcontractors, field crews, schedules, responsibilities, and project priorities.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, designers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews.
- Understand and work from architectural drawings, blueprints, plans, specifications, revisions, and project documentation.
- Coordinate between architects, management, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure projects are executed correctly.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, field conflicts, or potential construction issues before they create delays or additional costs.
- Communicate questions, changes, site conditions, and project needs clearly with architects and other project professionals.
- Assign responsibilities, set expectations, establish deadlines, and hold team members accountable.
- Coordinate crews, materials, subcontractors, schedules, and project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and quickly address delays, mistakes, bottlenecks,



or operational problems.
- Create and implement systems and processes that improve efficiency, communication, organization, and accountability.
- Ensure deadlines, quality standards, construction documents, budgets, and company procedures are followed.
- Maintain clear communication between management and everyone involved in project execution.

Required Qualifications

- Strong construction management and operations experience.
- Proven experience managing people, teams, subcontractors, and multiple construction projects.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Experience coordinating with architects and other construction professionals.
- Ability to read and understand architectural plans, construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and revisions.
- Understanding of how construction plans translate into presente field execution.
- Ability to communicate effectively with architects regarding plans, revisions, questions, design requirements, and field conditions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, employees, subcontractors, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent organization, planning, scheduling, and follow-through.
- Strong accountability and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create structure, improve processes, and increase operational efficiency.
- Detail-oriented and capable of staying ahead of deadlines without constant supervision.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is first and foremost a strong construction operations manager and team leader.

We want someone who knows how to run the operation—manage the people, organize the projects,



coordinate the different parties involved, establish accountability, solve problems, and make sure work gets completed correctly and on schedule.

This person will regularly work with architects, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews, so they must understand how all of these parties work together throughout a construction project.

They should be comfortable reviewing plans, communicating with architects when questions or changes arise, and making sure that what is being planned and communicated is properly executed in the field.

Ultimately, this person should be able to bridge the gap between management, architects, subcontractors, and field crews while keeping everyone organized, accountable, and moving toward the same goal.

- You have difficulty holding employees and subcontractors accountable.
- You are not highly organized or regularly miss deadlines and follow-ups.
- You require constant direction to manage your responsibilities.
- You do not have strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills.

Architectural experience is not required. Strong construction management experience and the ability to effectively work with architects and construction plans are required.

That last sentence makes the distinction impossible to misunderstand: you’re hiring a construction manager, not an architect.
