Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Product Engineer to join our Signal and Power Connectivity (S&PC;) area at our Hermosillo Automotive Plant. This role is crucial in strengthening our business position with customers and developing cost-effective product solutions. The idóneo candidate will be a key player in our Mexico Connectors Value Stream, driving product innovation and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Engagement and Relationship Management

2. Serve as the primary engineering contact for key customers

3. Foster and grow strong customer relationships

4. Identify and document product requirements through direct customer communication

5. Technical Leadership

6. Manage the New Product Release process for new part numbers

7. Lead the TE Engineering change process (ECN) to enhance product manufacturability

8. Perform engineering analyses and risk assessments for product reliability

9. Determine and oversee product qualification testing for automotive industry standards

10. Cross-functional Collaboration

11. Support business office in potential new business quotes

12. Communicate with Product Management on manufacturing challenges impacting product cost

13. Provide engineering support to TE HMO manufacturing facility

14. Collaborate with Quality Engineering on customer issues through root cause analysis

15. Industry Standards and Specifications

Understand and apply industry and customer specifications to product development

17. Translate customer drawings into manufacturable, detailed prints for TE facilities

18. Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (USCAR2, GMW3191, Ford specs, etc.)

19. Product Launch and Ongoing Support

20. Support new product line launches before and after Start of Production (SOP)

21. Manage TE Engineering systems

22. Generate samples and conduct technical evaluations as needed

23. Product Extension and Innovation
24. In collaboration with PM office, translate customer needs into potential derivative business.

25. Collaborate with TE product/process experts to refine concepts

26. Assess and apply TE products to meet customer specifications

27. Focus on increasing profit margins through innovative design

28. Develop VAVE cost-savings ideas and implement or support viable projects to improve profitability

What your background should look like

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering

- 5+ years of automotive engineering experience or equivalent

- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English

- Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

- Strong problem-solving skills and effective management abilities

- Extensive knowledge of automotive connectors, terminals,



and cable assemblies requirements/testing (USCAR), materials, and processes

- Proficiency in CREO, SolidWorks, or high-level 3D CAD software

- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) and stack-up analysis

- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies or Red X methodology (preferred)

- Knowledge and application of AI tools to enhance productivity

Required Skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively

- Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration

- Experience working with quality, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams

- Proficiency in conducting specification reviews

- Ability to apply AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation

- US Visa required.
