Senior Control Panel Designer - Form Energy

Overview

Form Energy is seeking a Senior Control Panel Designer to support the development of its next-generation battery technology. This role sits on the BMS Hardware & Electrical Systems team and focuses on the complete design, development, testing, and validation of industrial control panels used in high-voltage energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design industrial control panels compliant with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL 508A standards.
- Create schematics, panel layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using EPLAN .
- Select and integrate components such as:
- Connectors and wire harnesses
- Breakers and fuses
- Drives, transformers, and rectifiers
- Design for high-voltage systems up to 600V AC and 2000V DC .
- Coordinate with third-party panel fabrication vendors from design through build and acceptance.
- Lead and execute high-voltage testing:
- Hipot testing
- Insulation resistance testing
- Functional validation
- Partner with mechanical engineers on enclosure design, cooling/thermal considerations, and physical integration.
- Participate in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and risk mitigation activities.

Required Qualifications

- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience (or MS with 3+ years).
- Strong experience with EPLAN (or similar electrical design software).
- Proven experience designing panels to NEC and UL 508A standards .




- Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical testing and safety protocols .
- Knowledge of:
- Branch circuit protection
- Wire sizing and electrical codes
- Power conversion equipment integration
- Experience managing external panel manufacturing vendors.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as:
- Arena or Teamcenter (PLM)
- JIRA
- JAMA
- Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.

What a Strong Candidate Looks Like For recruiting purposes, the idóneo candidate would likely have:

- Electrical panel design expertise in manufacturing, energy, utilities, battery systems, or heavy industrial environments.
