We are seeking an experienced Surgical Oncologist with strong laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgical expertise to provide specialized surgical management for patients with cancer and related surgical conditions. The successful candidate will assess patients, develop and perform appropriate surgical treatment plans, participate in multidisciplinary oncology care and provide comprehensive peri-operative and post-operative management
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessment of patients with suspected or confirmed surgical oncology conditions.
- Review relevant imaging, pathology, laboratory and other diagnostic findings to determine appropriate surgical management.
- Develop individualized surgical treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary oncology team.
- Perform laparoscopic and other minimally invasive surgical procedures within the scope of competence and available hospital facilities.
- Perform open surgical procedures where clinically indicated.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments, optimize patients for surgery and obtain informed consent.
- Provide post-operative monitoring and management, including identification and management of surgical complications.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumour board meetings and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, anaesthetists, nurses and other specialists.
- Maintain accurate documentation of consultations, operative procedures, findings, treatment plans and patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support training and mentoring of junior doctors and relevant clinical staff.
- Ensure compliance with hospital SOPs, professional standards, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Recognized specialist qualification in General Surgery and/or Surgical Oncology .
- Demonstrable specialist experience in surgical oncology.
- Proven experience in laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgery .
- Valid medical and specialist practicing licence.
- Strong knowledge of surgical oncology principles, cancer staging and peri-operative management.
- Ability to interpret relevant imaging and pathology reports.
- Strong surgical decision-making and complication-management skills.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Experience in a tertiary oncology or comprehensive cancer centre will be an added advantage.
