the role
this is a senior-level support role for an accounting professional. You'll lead accounting-related issues across our support team, help agents resolve complex questions, and work closely with our product team to make sure accounting issues are understood and addressed. You'll also handle escalated tickets and phone calls with customers, who are primarily small to mid-sized professional services firms.
you do not need prior software support experience. We're looking for strong, practical accounting knowledge and the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly. We'll teach you our products.
what you'll do
- serve as the team's lead resource for accounting-related issues and support agents with complex questions.
- monitor accounting tickets for sla compliance and ensure timely, well-documented escalations.
- partner with product to ensure escalated issues are clearly understood from an accounting perspective.
- identify product deficiencies and advocate for improvements based on customer impact and accounting best practices.
- review proposed data corrections to ensure fixes are accurate from an accounting perspective.
- handle escalated tickets and customer phone calls, and support the queue as needed.
- troubleshoot accounting issues such as gl discrepancies, reconciliations, ar/ap aging, and revenue recognition.
- partner with the support trainer to develop and validate accounting training content.
- provide ticket-level coaching and feedback to agents on accounting issues.
- create and improve internal knowledge base and help center content on accounting topics.
- accurately document customer interactions and resolutions in our ticketing system.
what we're looking for
- bachelor's degree in accounting (contador público) or a related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
- working knowledge of us accounting practices (us gaap) gained by working with us companies or clients.
- solid understanding of:
- cash and accrual basis accounting
- ar/ap
- bank reconciliations
- journal entries
- closing periods
- financial statements
- ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accountants.
- advanced english (c1 or higher), written and verbal, with the ability to handle customer phone calls.
- strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- comfortable working independently and collaborating with us-based teams.
preferred skills and experience
- experience with quickbooks online or quickbooks desktop.
- experience with accounting for professional services firms, including project billing, wip, or retainers.
- background in software, saas, or customer-facing accounting roles.
- familiarity with support or crm tools such as zendesk or salesforce.
what we are not requiring
- cpa certification.
- prior software support experience.
- expert knowledge of asc 606 or corporate-level accounting.
- tax expertise.
success in the first 90 days
- learn bqe core's accounting functionality and our escalation workflow.
- independently resolve escalated accounting tickets and calls.
- serve as an accounting resource for the support team and support trainer.
- take ownership of sla monitoring for accounting tickets.
- begin identifying product improvement opportunities and bringing them to product.
schedule
monday to friday, 8-hour daytime shift aligned with us pacific time (start between 6:00 and 8:00 am pt).
