Our team has built and scaled finance functions at companies including Lyft, Ramp, and SoftBank. We are seeking an accomplished Head of Accounting to lead the accounting organization of a high-growth US company, working remotely from Mexico.

This is the leadership seat for accounting as a whole. You will set the standards, structure, and roadmap for the function, and lead the managers and specialists who run the close, revenue accounting, and accounting operations day to day. Where the company is preparing for its next stage — a larger audit, a first-time SOX-style control environment, an acquisition, or a new international entity — you will make sure the accounting function is ready before it is tested.

You will report to the CFO or CEO and act as the senior accounting voice with auditors, the board's audit committee, investors, and department leaders. Accounting Leadership and Strategy
Own the structure, roadmap, and operating standards of the accounting organization, including team design and hiring plans.
Lead, develop, and hold accountable Accounting Managers, Leads,



and specialists across close, revenue, and operations.
Accounting policy. Set and own the company's accounting policies and technical positions, and act as final reviewer on judgment-heavy matters.

Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting
Technical accounting. Oversee conclusions on revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations, and debt and equity instruments, with memoranda that hold up to audit.
Close performance. Set close cycle-time and quality targets and hold the team to them.

Controls, Audit, and Readiness
Control environment. Build a control environment that meets the company's next stage, including SOX-readiness where applicable.
Audit. Own the external audit relationship and the audit plan, and resolve findings through to close-out.
Lead the accounting workstream for fundraising, M&A; diligence, and post-acquisition integration.
Tax coordination. Oversee US federal, state, and international tax compliance with external advisers, and the accounting inputs they depend on.

Finance systems. Own the accounting systems roadmap, including ERP, revenue, close-management, and AP automation.
Design processes that scale with transaction volume, entity count, and headcount rather than breaking at the next stage.
Work with FP&A;, legal, and department heads so that accounting is involved before commercial decisions are made, not after.





12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of a multi-layer accounting team with managers reporting to you
~ Experience as the most senior accounting leader, or deputy to one, at a high-growth or complex company
~ A track record of building or rebuilding an accounting function, including its policies, controls, and team structure
~ Experience owning the external audit relationship, including audit committee or board-level interaction
~ Substantial ERP experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or a comparable system, including leading an implementation or migration
~ Experience working remotely with US-based leadership, auditors, and advisers
~ Excellent written and verbal English, with executive-level presence
~ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

CPA, Contador Público, Contador Público Certificado strongly preferred; Big 4 audit or technical accounting experience followed by industry leadership
M&A; accounting, purchase price allocation, or integration experience
SaaS, fintech, marketplace, or recurring-revenue experience
