SUMMARY
Transportation Senior Buyer
The Senior buyer
is a specialist and regional subject
matter expert
in one or more areas as of 1. Services, 2. Knowledge of transportation/logistics commodity, 3. Transportation Market, 4. Knowledge on Sub-contracting laws and regulations, 5. Knowledge on sourcing for different modes of transportation (Road, Sea, Air). This position requires to work with over 50 plants all over Mexico, Nicaragua, el Salvador and USA members, , BU and Finance team to identify the best of the best suppliers: service, quality cost and delivery for Yazaki. The ultimate purpose for this position is to improve cost and stability in all YNCA manufacturing operations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a very high level of skill and ownership for the relevant subject
Prepare procure strategies by categories: road freight, sea, air
Provide expertise to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality, and delivery time.
Researching, selecting, and purchasing Competitive Transportation Services
Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best prices
Lead improvement activities and workshops
Communicate globally (Spanish/English): verbal, written and in person (present)
Work independently
Processing requisitions and updating management on the status of orders
Support the identification of new supplier, services, and integration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree Requirements:
BS in Engineering (ME, EE, IE)



or related field to be considered.

Previous Experience:
3+ years' experience in Purchasing especially Indirect and Logistics
Travel Requirements:
Must be willing to travel within in MX, US, or other countries as required.

PROFILE REQUIREMENT
Expertise in Indirect Purchasing specially services on transportation. Will be responsible for selecting suppliers and carrying out contract negotiations. This is done by focusing on general commodity strategy, quality, specification, price and reliability of supply.
Strong negotiation abilities.
Language skills: Must be bilingual - Spanish and English.
Willingness to travel frequently between plants in Mexico, international travel periodically may be required.
Ethical conduct and independent functionality (autonomy) needed
Must be capable of driving adherence to standards
Practical judgment and sharp observation skills
Energetic and enthusiastic to start new difficult projects
Excellent oral and written communication required
Career-minded individual seeking development opportunities
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
Experience on transportation /logistics services (Purchasing desired, operations is also important)
Preference, experience with Services Providers working as final customer
Critical thinking and analysis skill
Responsible to take strong decision
Work with out supervision
