The Controller is responsible for overseeing TCC’s financial operations, including financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance with GAAP. This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction accounting, including the Percentage of Completion (PoC) revenue recognition method and Work-in-Progress (WIP) management. The Controller is also responsible for supervising the accounting team and implementing financial strategies that align with the company’s goals.
Financial Management:
● Manage financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project budgets and PoC.
● Oversee project accounting, A/R, A/P, and installer payroll operations.
● Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
● Oversee compliance with industry standards and government regulations, ensuring TCC maintains a strong reputation for ethical and legal financial practices.
● Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring full transparency of financial performance and key metrics.
● Support the CFO in managing external accounting services, including tax preparation, audits, and insurance renewals.
● Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the organization has adequate liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic initiatives.
● Ability to meet close deadlines.
● Timely financial close completion and accurate PoC calculations.
● Efficient and accurate execution of accounting operations
● Successful audits with minimal control deficiencies.
WIP & PoC Accounting:
● Maintain accurate WIP schedules, tracking costs, revenues, and project profitability.
● Conduct variance analysis to ensure project budgets and actuals align.
● Regularly reconcile job costs, revenue, and expenses.
● Additional projects assigned by CFO.
● Ability to lead and direct team with little to no oversight.
● Timely and accurate WIP reports.
● Reduced discrepancies and actionable variance insights.
● Up-to-date and accurate reconciliations.
Team Leadership:
● Supervise accounting staff and conduct regular performance reviews.
● Foster collaboration between accounting and project teams.
● Performance metrics and staff development outcomes.
● Effective communication and streamlined workflows.
Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis:
● Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans.
● Support the CFO with financial analyses for investments and operational improvements.
● Timely submission and accuracy of budget and forecast data.
● High-impact financial insights that guide decision-making.
Interactions:
● CFO, Controller, Project Accounting Manager, Project Accountants, Accountant, AP Lead and AP Clerk:
○ Daily use of Teams, Bi-weekly departmental meetings, ad hoc projects, and A/P invoice/vendor relations.
● Procurement:
○ Constant contact regarding budget inquiries, vendor selection, and purchase order approval.
● Sales:
○ Constant contact regarding budget inquiries, general questions for projects and contract review.
● Operations:
○ Constant contact regarding the status of the project for billing purposes and changes in labor, scope, or schedule.
● External:
○ Intermittent contact with clients and vendors as needed for payment.

Education/Training: ☐ H.S. Degree / GED ☒ College Degree ☐ Certification/License*
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline and experience.
Experience:
● 5-7 years of construction account background in both A/R and A/P, knowledge of percent completion (POC) revenue recognition method and job costing, previous experience with AIA documents, Dynamics 365 – Business Central, and a fully integrated ERP system, previous experience with GCPay, Procore, and Textura platforms. Previous experience with certified payroll a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per month
