About the Role

Role Summary We are looking for a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (SDET) to design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions across our smart home platforms, cloud services, web applications, and APIs. In this role, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, DevOps, and manual QA engineers to champion quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

- Framework Development & Maintenance
- Build, scale, and maintain robust test automation frameworks and suites for Web UI, APIs, and microservices (e.g., using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).

- API & Integration Testing
- Author and execute comprehensive automated tests for backend microservices, RESTful APIs, gRPC endpoints, and event streams (e.g., Kafka, MQTT).

- CI/CD Integration
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab) to ensure continuous validation on code commits, pull requests, and scheduled regression runs.

- Triage & Defect Management
- Monitor test execution results, investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, and log detailed defect reports in Jira.

- Test Strategy & Planning
- Partner with development and product teams to translate acceptance criteria and user stories into structured test plans, test cases, and automation roadmaps.

- Quality Standards & Best Practices
- Follow and promote coding standards, code reviews, reusable test components, and flaky-test mitigation strategies.

- Collaboration & Innovation
- Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and explore modern testing methodologies, test lab optimization, and AI-driven testing tools.

Qualifications

- Required Qualifications




- Experience
- 5 years of professional experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software development.
- Programming Languages
- Proficiency in at least one modern language: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, C#, or Java.
- Automation Tools & Frameworks
- Hands-on experience with modern test frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver, or Appium.
- API Testing
- Strong experience testing APIs using tools and libraries such as Postman, Supertest, RestAssured, or custom HTTP/gRPC clients.
- CI/CD & Source Control
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket and integrating automated tests into Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
- Database & Querying
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for test data setup and validation.
- Methodologies
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum development practices, the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and defect lifecycle management.
- Communication
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
