Cross-border Procurement Associate is an entry-level position focused on training and professional development in cross-border procurement. This role also includes a strong sales component, requiring relationship building, carrier sourcing, negotiation, and customer-focused communication to support business growth and transportation solutions across international markets.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Call Cross-border carrier providers to fulfill commitments made to customers
- Negotiate rates
- Document and communicate offers
- Use discretion to book loads
- Use discretion to determine when to bring options above the notated Carrier Buy Rates to service our existing clients
- Obtain proper paperwork where applicable
- Develop and manage carrier portfolio of “owned cross-border carriers”
- Absorb and apply material learned in training
- Get accustomed to both internal and external TMS platforms
- Provide load coverage assistance for harder to cover lanes
- Generate carrier capacity for cross-border targeted lanes from BG’s internally built database, as well as other outside sources the Cross-border Procurement Associate has access to.
