New Value Solutions (NVS), a national IT consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / SQL Developer based in Mexico to support a major Canadian airline on a Finance initiative focused on developing a predictive cost model.

The Data

Engineer will be responsible for data discovery, extraction, cleansing, transformation, integration, and analytical data preparation supporting Python-based predictive modelling, forecasting, profitability planning, and scenario analysis.

Responsibilities:

- Perform data discovery and analysis across financial, operational, and enterprise data sources.

- Extract, transform, cleanse, and prepare data required to support predictive cost modelling and advanced analytics.

- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and analytical datasets.

- Work with SQL Server and other enterprise data sources to identify, retrieve, and integrate required information.

- Support the ingestion and preparation of data from JDE and other financial or operational source systems.

- Design and develop reliable data pipelines and repeatable data preparation processes.

- Analyze source data for completeness, accuracy, consistency, duplication, missing values, and other quality issues.

- Develop data-quality checks, reconciliation processes, and validation routines.

- Work closely with data scientists to translate modelling requirements into appropriate data structures and features.

- Create modelling-ready datasets supporting Python-based predictive modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.





- Support feature engineering and analytical data transformation activities.

- Identify source-system dependencies and data limitations that may affect model development.

- Optimize SQL and data-processing workloads for performance and scalability.

- Support potential future integration with Snowflake or other modern cloud data platforms.

- Maintain technical documentation covering source systems, data mappings, transformations, business rules, and data lineage.

- Support testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of data-related issues.

- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities to support ongoing maintenance and sustainability.

- Follow client privacy, security, and access requirements when working with sensitive financial data.

Requirements:

- 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering, database development, ETL/ELT, or enterprise data integration.

- Advanced SQL development skills.

- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

- Demonstrated experience extracting, cleansing, transforming, and preparing large enterprise datasets.

- Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and repeatable data-processing workflows.

- Strong understanding of relational database design, data modelling, and analytical data structures.





- Experience performing data profiling, data-quality assessment, reconciliation, and remediation.

- Experience preparing data for data science, predictive analytics, machine learning, or advanced analytics initiatives.

- Ability to work closely with data scientists to support feature engineering and modelling requirements.

- Experience integrating financial, ERP, operational, or other enterprise source-system data.

- Experience with JDE / JD Edwards is strongly preferred.

- Experience with Snowflake is considered an advantage.

- Python experience for data engineering or data preparation is considered an advantage.

- Experience working with sensitive financial or confidential business data is strongly preferred.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with Canadian team members and maintain appropriate overlap with Canadian business hours.

- Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Mexico.
