Organizational context: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico supports the "Plan México" initiative, a significant green industrial policy aimed at aligning climate action with equitable economic development. This plan seeks to reshore strategic value chains and boost national productive capacity, mobilizing substantial investment through fiscal incentives and Economic Development Hubs (PODECOBI). The UNDP collaborates with the Ministry of Economy to pilot monitoring, explore financing, and institutionalize tools for a sustainable industrial transition.
Job purpose: The Strategic Communications Associate will support the "Plan México" initiative by developing and executing communication strategies to inform stakeholders about its progress and results. This role is crucial for translating complex technical information into accessible materials for decision-makers and the public. The associate will create visual content, reports, and presentations that highlight the project's contributions to dignified employment, regional integration, and sustainability. By analyzing institutional positioning and proposing communication improvements, the role aims to enhance the project's visibility and impact, ensuring effective dissemination of knowledge and lessons learned to partners and contributing to the overall success of Mexico's green industrial policy.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include supporting the communication strategy for the "Plan México" initiative by developing visual materials such as presentations, infographics, and graphic designs to disseminate project results to decision-makers. This involves preparing executive reports, presentations, and outcome notes,
and compiling project advancements for dissemination to the Ministry of Economy and UNDP. The role also entails ensuring communication products accurately reflect the project's contribution to employment, regional integration, and sustainability goals. Additionally, the associate will design and produce strategic visual materials, collaborating on designs that translate technical advancements into clear, accessible formats for technical reports and institutional dissemination. Support will be provided for capacity building, including compiling learning documentation, organizing informational sessions, and disseminating project knowledge and best practices.
Education:
A complete secondary education (high school certificate) is required. A university degree (Licenciatura) in Communication, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, Digital Design, or related fields is desirable but not mandatory.
Work experience:
A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience with a secondary education, or 3 years with a first-level university degree, is required. Experience should include developing strategic communication materials for decision-makers and producing visual materials (presentations, infographics, graphic reports) for institutional audiences.
Skills:
Experience in developing strategic communication materials for decision-makers. Proficiency in graphic design and visual editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, advanced PowerPoint). Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI for dashboards and indicators. Fluency in Spanish is required; basic English is desirable.
