Role Description The Freelance Writer will support the Max Planck School of Biomedical AI by creating clear, engaging written content for digital and print channels. Day-to-day tasks include drafting articles, blog posts, and researcher profiles, writing web and social media content, and preparing materials that communicate complex scientific topics to diverse audiences. The role also involves editing and proofreading existing texts, ensuring consistent tone and style, and collaborating with academic and administrative staff to gather information and refine messaging.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Sonora, Mexico, requiring regular coordination with international teams across time zones.

Qualifications

- Strong writing and editing skills for science communication, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible language.
- Experience creating content for websites, newsletters, and social media, ideally within academic,



research, or technology-focused environments.
- Proficiency in research and fact-checking, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in published materials.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work autonomously while coordinating with remote and international stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Science Communication, or a related field; familiarity with AI, data science, or life sciences is an advantage.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; Spanish language skills and experience in cross-cultural communication are beneficial.
- Comfort working on-site in Sonora, Mexico, and participating in occasional events, interviews, and meetings to gather content.
