Their capabilities run end to end: engineering, metal fabrication, coatings, mechanical and electrical integration, battery installation and end-of-line testing.None of that works without a supply base that performs.
That is where you come in.We are hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to own supplier qualification, auditing, performance and corrective action across their supply base.
You will spend most of your time at supplier facilities, not behind a desk.
You will walk a fabrication floor and know within an hour whether the process is capable.
You will look at a weld and know whether it meets the print.
You will run a corrective action to real root cause instead of accepting a containment plan dressed up as a fix.The supply base spans Mexico, the United States and Asia, so this role travels roughly 80% of the time and requires you to live near a major airport.What you will doConduct supplier audits, capability assessments and process evaluations against engineering and quality standardsSupport supplier onboarding through First Article Inspections,



PPAP submissions and technical validation reviewsReview supplier quality documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams and inspection reportsDrive Supplier Corrective Action Requests using structured root cause methodology (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)Track supplier KPIs: defect rates, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality and corrective action cycle timeWork with Engineering to define inspection criteria, critical characteristics and acceptance standardsSupport APQP activities for new product launches and engineering changesInvestigate nonconforming material and coordinate containment, corrective action and dispositionMaintain supplier performance dashboards and quality reportingPartner with Procurement on sourcing decisions based on quality risk and supplier capabilityPerform dimensional inspections, weld reviews and documentation auditsDrive continuous improvement to reduce scrap, rework and supplier-driven production disruptionMust haveBachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related technical field4+ years in supplier quality,



quality engineering or manufacturing quality in an industrial environmentHands-on experience conducting supplier audits and capability assessmentsStrong working knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, welding processes or electro-mechanical assembliesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T; and welding symbolsWorking knowledge of ISO ****, APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plansExperience with root cause analysis tools and statistical process controlProficiency with ERP systems and Excel-based data analysisProfessional English, spoken and written.
You will audit, negotiate and report in EnglishAbility to travel approximately 80%, including internationally, with valid documentationBased in or willing to relocate to the Monclova areaNice to haveCQE, CQA or Six Sigma certificationAWS CWI, NACE or SSPC coating inspection credentials, or NDT certificationFamiliarity with AWS D1.1 welding standards, WPS and PQR review, and welder qualificationExperience in modular fabrication, energy systems, BESS or defense manufacturingExperience auditing suppliers across multiple countriesExperience supporting multi-site manufacturing operationsWho tends to do well hereEngineers who are comfortable being the only company representative in a supplier's plant, who can hold a firm position on a quality issue without turning it into a fight, and who would rather fix the process than file the report.
