Staff Accountant | U.S. Accounting

Mexico City, Mexico | Hybrid | Full-time

Lopez & Co. CPAs, Ltd. is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Mexico City team and support accounting and financial reporting work for U.S.-based clients.

You’ll work directly with financial information, take ownership of assigned accounting tasks, and collaborate with experienced professionals in Mexico and the United States. This is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge of U.S. accounting practices and develop your professional judgment.

This is a hybrid position, not a remote opening. Applicants must live in Mexico City and be available to work from our office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Mondays and Fridays are remote.

What you’ll do

- Prepare account reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Review accounting records and investigate discrepancies or unusual balances.
- Prepare and document accounting entries and adjustments as assigned.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and maintain organized accounting files.
- Follow up on information needed from clients and keep assigned work on schedule.
- Manage assigned tasks with limited day-to-day supervision, seeking guidance when an issue requires technical judgment.
- Communicate with colleagues and U.S.-based clients in English.

What we’re looking for

- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.




- Professional experience in accounting or financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with accounting for U.S.-based entities.
- Strong Excel skills and advanced written and spoken English.
- The ability to prepare accurate reconciliations and supporting schedules, manage priorities, and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and proactive communication.

Experience working directly with U.S.-based clients or preparing financial information under U.S. GAAP is a plus. You do not need to be a U.S. GAAP expert, but you should understand its fundamentals and be ready to apply them with support when needed.

Compensation and benefits

- Monthly salary: $35,000–$40,000 MXN, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Major and minor medical expenses insurance.
- $3,112 MXN in monthly grocery vouchers.
- 18 days of annual Christmas bonus (aguinaldo).
- 40% vacation premium.
- Paid vacation that increases with seniority in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
- Annual performance bonus.
