About Born West Born West is a creative tech agency. We build digital products, experiences, and systems that matter. We're a studio of about 40, mostly senior, distributed across North America and India, with 120+ projects delivered.

The role We're hiring someone to own the delivery of client work end to end, and to be the person our clients actually deal with day to day.

You own the schedule, the scope, the resourcing, the dependencies, the risk, and the relationship. Our founders will often be on the call with you. You're the one driving it.

In practice you'll have two or three projects live at once inside a small number of accounts. We care more about how well they land than how many you can carry.

The job is to own delivery of what we agreed to build. When a requirement is unclear or something breaks, you go and understand the problem first, talk to the dev team, and come back with a recommendation and a plan. Translating between the client and the dev team is a large part of this. What matters is what you add in the middle. If engineering hands you three options, the client should get your recommendation and the reasoning behind it, not a menu to choose from. The thinking is yours to do.

What you'll own The client relationship. You're the primary contact through execution. You run the calls, present the plan and the delivery approach, explain tradeoffs, and defend decisions. Creative and product direction is presented alongside our founders and design leads — the delivery story is yours. You handle scope pushback and unhappy weeks without escalating them upward by default. When an account has more than one project running, you're the point of contact across all of it.

Delivery. Planning, execution, and shipping of creative and technical work — websites, apps, digital products. On time, on scope, on budget. You map requirements into a plan, write tickets an engineer can pick up without a conversation,

run sprints and boards (Scrum and Kanban), surface blockers early, and write decisions down. Our engineering leads own the technical breakdown of a build; your job is to pull it out of them, sequence it, and hold it.

Commitments. Dates you give are dates you hit. When one is going to slip, we hear it from you early, with options, not after the fact.

Alignment. Product owner, design, and engineering pointed at the same thing, mostly in writing, across time zones. Standups, reviews, retros, and stakeholder syncs when they're useful, and clear async updates in between.

Program-level view. Where an account is made up of several projects, you keep timelines, deliverables, and messaging consistent, and partner with client stakeholders on roadmap, phasing, and prioritization. You report progress, dependencies, and risk to our leadership.

What this role isn't You won't own commercials. Rates, change orders, SOWs, and renewals sit with the founders. You'll flag when scope has moved and bring the founders in — you won't be negotiating it. This is delivery and relationship ownership, not a book of business.

How we work Async-first. We default to writing. Decisions get documented, not trapped in meetings. Your writing carries more weight here than it would at most agencies.

Distributed. Our team spans North America and India. We need at least 4 hours of daily overlap with North American business hours, either PT or ET.

AI is part of the day. We build AI-native products and we use AI tools to plan and ship. You don't need to arrive an expert,

but you'll be expected to work this way.

What we're looking for

- 5–8 years running client work in an agency, studio, or similar fast-paced environment, with the client relationship in your hands rather than a layer above you.
- Experience owning a whole client engagement rather than one workstream inside someone else's — several pieces of work in flight, with you accountable for how they add up.
- Concrete examples of absorbing a messy problem and returning with a recommendation. We will ask you to walk through specific ones.
- Comfortable on live calls with senior stakeholders — founders, marketing leads, VPs. Presenting work, holding a position, and reading a room when something's off.
- Excellent written English.

Clear, complete, and fast, since most of our decisions happen in writing.

- Experience managing remote teams across time zones.
- Fluent with Scrum and Kanban.
- Enough technical fluency to talk credibly with engineers: what's hard and why, where the dependencies are, what a tradeoff costs. You don't need to reason about API design or architecture yourself — we have people for that.
- Fluency in English.

Helpful, not required

- Hands-on use of LLMs and AI tools in your own workflow.
- Linear for project and issue tracking.
- Familiarity with full-stack web work, web apps, and APIs (REST/GraphQL).
- Working with a Rails team.
- Projects built with agentic coding tools.
- Background in digital production, UX, or software development.
- Interactive and experiential work: AR/VR, WebGL, installations.
- Airtable or Azure DevOps.

Tools we use Linear for project and issue tracking, plus Slack and Figma.

How to apply Upload your résumé and complete the short questionnaire at our custom form. We read those answers closely — they're the first sample of your writing we see, and we'd rather have your own words than a polished version of ours.
