Job Profile - Import Operations & Transportation Manager
**Location**: Insurgentes Sur 1425
**Reports to**: Inbound Senior Manager
Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Import Operations & Transportation Manager to lead import customs activities and domestic transportation coordination from customs entry points to distribution facilities.
This position is responsible for maintaining efficient and compliant import operations while ensuring timely and cost-effective inland delivery processes.
Main Responsibilities1. Import Customs Operations
- Supervise import customs procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and company standards
- Liaise with customs brokers, government authorities, and external partners to facilitate smooth clearance processes
- Review and validate import documentation including invoices, packing lists, permits, and certificates
- Ensure adherence to Mexican customs requirements and internal compliance procedures
- Coordinate customs inspections and resolve operational or documentation issues
- Monitor customs processing timelines and proactively address potential delays
2. Domestic Transportation Coordination
- Oversee transportation activities from ports or customs facilities to warehouses
- Coordinate trucking providers and logistics partners to ensure service continuity
- Improve transportation planning, transit times, and freight costs
- Track shipments and ensure deliveries are completed within established timelines
- Resolve transportation incidents including delays, damages, or shipment inconsistencies
3. Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Maintain effective relationships with customs agencies, freight forwarders, and transportation suppliers
- Assess vendor performance and support contract/service negotiations




- Work closely with internal departments such as supply chain, warehousing, procurement, and finance
4. Cost Management & Operational Efficiency
- Control import-related and transportation expenses
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce logistics costs
- Generate cost reports and operational analyses for management review
5. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Prevention
- Ensure all logistics and import activities follow legal regulations and corporate policies
- Detect operational or compliance risks and implement corrective actions
- Keep updated on customs and trade regulation changes and ensure operational adaptation
6. Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor operational indicators such as customs turnaround time, transportation lead time, and logistics costs
- Prepare recurring operational and KPI reports for leadership teams
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and service levels
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related discipline
- 5 to 8 years of experience in import operations, customs clearance, and transportation management
- Solid understanding of Mexican import regulations and customs procedures
- Experience coordinating customs brokers, carriers, and logistics service providers
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Professional English communication skills
Preferred Background
- Previous experience within electronics, retail, or consumer products industries
- Exposure to high-volume import environments
- Familiarity with ERP platforms and logistics management systems
