Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Design Release Engineer (DRE) –
- Chassis Suspension to join our engineering team. In this role, you will support the end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of chassis suspension components and assemblies (e.g., control arms, springs, dampers, bushings, sway bars, and knuckles).
This is a remote position based in Mexico, but it requires flexibility to travel to plant sites and engineering centers in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) for cross-functional alignment, build support, and supplier coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Component Release: Assist in managing the CAD modeling, drafting standards, and release process (BOM maintenance, engineering changes, and part release) within PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia).
- Design &
- Development: Work with senior engineers and suppliers to evaluate suspension components for packaging, durability, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), clearance, and serviceability.
- Supplier &
- Assembly Support: Coordinate with tier-1 suppliers and local manufacturing facilities in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe to resolve build issues, design discrepancies, and quality concerns.
- Testing &
- Validation: Support the development of DVP&R; (Design Verification Plan and Report) and monitor component testing (bench, rig, and vehicle-level).
- Root Cause Analysis: Participate in 8D, DFMEA, and quality investigations to address manufacturing or field issues related to chassis components.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with purchasing, quality, vehicle integration, and plant launch teams to ensure components meet timing, cost, and weight targets.
Qualifications &
- Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering,
Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in automotive product engineering, specifically within chassis, suspension, or mechanical component design (internships/co-ops considered).
- Technical Skills:
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, NX, or SolidWorks).
- Fundamental understanding of suspension kinematics, GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning &
- Tolerancing), and manufacturing processes (casting, forging, stamping).
- Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change management processes.
- Languages: Business fluency in Spanish and professional working proficiency in English (written and verbal).
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel to Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) as required by project milestones and launch activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO/TS).
- Experience participating in launch support or assembly plant environments in Mexico.
- Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) interpretation or multibody dynamics tools.
