Position Summary

WMF is seeking an Executive Representative to spearhead its efforts in Mexico. This position will lead WMF’s efforts in Mexico and advance WMF’s work to safeguard the country’s irreplaceable cultural heritage. The Executive Representative will lead the implementation of WMF’s local strategic plan in alignment with the organization’s global mission and priorities.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Executive Representative will serve as a key member of WMF’s International Leadership Team, working closely with colleagues in New York and with affiliate and regional office leaders around the world. The Executive Representative will also collaborate closely with WMF’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in New York, who oversees WMF’s portfolio of projects in Mexico.

The ideal candidate will take the lead in establishing a strong and lasting presence for WMF in Mexico. They will be a creative and strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement. This role will oversee the growth of the Mexico chapter of WMF’s International Council, comprising of leading regional donors and stakeholders; cultivate relationships with prospective institutional sponsors; organize events; and keep WMF Headquarters apprised of key activities.

The successful candidate will advance WMF’s heritage conservation work in Mexico by securing philanthropic support, strengthening communications and advocacy, and developing strategic partnerships,



while working closely with the experienced regional project directors responsible for project implementation. They will be adaptable and responsive to emerging needs and challenges, balancing long-term strategic goals with effective execution and clearly defined deliverables.

This part-time position (approximately 12 days per month with the possibility of increasing to full time) offers a highly rewarding opportunity for a creative and energetic leader to make a meaningful impact in the conservation of Mexico’s extraordinary historic buildings, landscapes, and monuments, as well as the communities and individuals who care for them.

Responsibilities

- To develop a multi-year WMF in Mexico strategy and operational budget that contributes towards WMF’s global mission and priorities.
- To drive financial support for the operations of WMF in Mexico– seeking, creating, and delivering ambitious fundraising programs to underpin our cause; grow International Council membership; and raise the visibility of WMF through events, communications, and partnerships.
- Define and execute a membership recruitment and engagement strategy to grow the WMF in Mexico International Council Chapter, organizing events that can be incorporated into the global International Council calendar.
- To work closely with HQ on the creation and management of an Advisory Board for WMF in Mexico.
- To work closely with WMF Headquarters as part of a global organization, and to liaise with the WMF affiliate heads to contribute to the organization’s mission on the international leadership team.

- To engage WMF in Mexico International Council members, governments, and institutional partners with regional projects and fundraise as needed.
- To work with WMF Headquarters to formulate and achieve annual goals, objectives, and key results (OKRs).
- To ensure the long-term sustainability of the presence of WMF in Mexico, through effective leadership, the overall management and administration of WMF in Mexico, as well as in the execution of the organization’s policies

Key Result Areas To provide the leadership to deliver the agreed vision, strategy values and specific objectives of WMF in Mexico:

- Develop a strategic plan that details fundraising, communications, and outreach goals for Mexico for approval by WMF Headquarters.




- Cooperate with WMF headquarters to pursue the global agenda including the World Monuments Watch™ Program and other worldwide initiatives.
- Increase WMF in Mexico’s International Council Chapter membership.
- Develop existing and build new relationships with funders, strategic partners, governments, and other stakeholders.
- Identify, build, and generate fundraising opportunities for operations and projects in Mexico.
- Create and maintain strong relationships with press and influencers to raise awareness of WMF’s mission and projects.
- Explore new projects in the region with WMF’s Field Projects team, and successfully promote WMF’s contributions.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for master’s degree (preferred majors in Art History, Business, English, History, or International Affairs)
- In-depth knowledge of Mexico’s philanthropic landscape, including local corporate, foundation, and individual giving networks.
- Experience in leadership and fundraising positions, working with general organizations.
- Demonstrated success in working independently and proactively to develop successful fundraising initiatives with individuals, foundations, and corporations in Mexico, reaching benchmarked targets.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required; other languages are a bonus
- Highly organized and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with multicultural funders and board members
- Computer fluency in Microsoft environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, for both events and global Zoom meetings, with some domestic and international travel, as needed.

Compensation for this position is based on experience and will be aligned with the local market rate in Mexico.
