AIvena — Jornada40

Context

AIvena builds Jornada40, a product that helps retail chains in Mexico comply with the legally mandated reduction of the workweek from 48 to 40 hours, phased in between 2026 and 2030.

The product has three surfaces: a diagnostic screen, a schedule optimization screen, and an AI chat interface. The system always operates human-in-the-loop: the agent can disagree with the solver, and the final decision stays with the client.

Today the diagnostic engine and the optimization solver are built, backed by a verification frame-

work with invariants that was developed before the solver. We’re in conversations with retail chains and other potential partners.

We’re looking for the person who takes ownership of product and technology for the next stretch:

consolidating the architecture, closing open product ambiguities, and scaling development.

Non-negotiable requirement: AI-first

We’re not looking for someone who uses AI occasionally. We’re looking for someone for whom writing code by hand is the exception, not the norm: someone who thinks through architecture in conversation with a model, translates those decisions into precise prompts for agentic coding tools, and reviews the output with the same rigor they’d apply to a junior engineer’s work. If your current workflow doesn’t already look like this, this isn’t the role.

What you’ll do

Product

- Define and defend scope: a field or a feature only exists if something consumes it today.
- Keep the product’s three surfaces coherent with each other and with the design system.
- Translate customer findings and legal constraints into traceable product decisions.

Technology

- Own the architecture of the solver, the diagnostic engine, and the verifier.
- Maintain the separation between legal,



operational, and implementation constraints, each with a documented source and an assessed removal effect.
- Prioritize deterministic, auditable outputs over generative shortcuts wherever traceability matters.

AI-first execution

- Use agentic coding tools as the primary method of building, not as an occasional accelerator.
- Write specifications and prompts an agent can execute without line-by-line supervision.
- Build verification before implementation when correctness is critical.

Business

- Provide technical and product support in conversations with retail chains and other potential partners.
- Participate in pricing decisions and in the roadmap tied to the reform’s phase-in calendar.

What we’re looking for

- Experience building systems with non-trivial business logic: optimization, regulatory com-

pliance, financial systems, or similar.
- Real evidence of AI-first work, not a line on a résumé: concrete examples of product built with agentic tools as the primary method.
- Product judgment: the ability to say no to a feature and defend that call.
- Comfort navigating regulatory ambiguity and translating it into traceable system constraints.
- Direct, technical writing with no filler. Clear written communication is part of the job, not an extra.

Bonus points

- Knowledge of Mexican labor law, or willingness to learn it rigorously.
- Prior experience in retail, staffing, or workforce management.
- Experience designing or maintaining a product design system.

What this role is not

- Not a people-management role from day one.
- Not a sales role, though it does include technical support for sales.
- Not a role where implementation is fully delegated away: architecture ownership is yours,

even when execution runs through agents.
