About the Role

Motivus is seeking a Senior C++ Engineer to join a strategic modernization initiative focused on transforming a mission-critical enterprise platform that has evolved over more than 30 years.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale modernization program involving legacy system transformation, database migration, architectural redesign, and application modernization. You will play a key role in analyzing complex legacy environments, modernizing enterprise applications, and helping shape the future architecture of a business-critical platform.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, reverse engineering complex systems, and driving modernization efforts while ensuring stability and business continuity.

What You'll Do

- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using C and C++.
- Analyze and modernize large-scale legacy systems and codebases.
- Participate in database transformation and modernization initiatives, including PostgreSQL migrations.
- Reverse engineer existing applications and undocumented functionality.
- Design scalable and maintainable solutions that support long-term platform evolution.
- Develop APIs, integration services, and modernization frameworks.
- Troubleshoot complex application, database, and infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Improve code quality, performance,



maintainability, and scalability.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering and modernization efforts.

What We're Looking For

- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on C/C++ development experience.
- Strong experience working with large-scale legacy applications and enterprise systems.
- Proven experience participating in system modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other enterprise relational databases.
- Experience analyzing and refactoring complex legacy codebases.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working with distributed teams and global stakeholders.
- Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken).

Nice to Have

- Experience with database modernization and migration projects.
- Experience with retail, POS, store management, inventory, merchandising, or supply chain systems.
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing environments.
- Knowledge of cloud modernization strategies.
- Experience with APIs, microservices, and integration architectures.
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
