As a Quality Manager with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise on Quality to support the manufacturing of electric propulsion systems for battery-powered aircraft that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Job Description
Nidec Aerospace is seeking a qualified technical Quality Manager who’s responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Quality Department, ensuring that products, processes, and systems meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership to quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with internal and external audits. The Quality Manager acts as a key liaison between production, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues and improve overall product reliability.
The individual is responsible for:
Quality Operations Management
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Operations Quality Department, including engineers, auditors and technicians across all shifts.
- Ensure all incoming, in-process, and final inspections follow established procedures.
- Oversee the handling, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of quality records, reports, and documentation. Compliance & Standards.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, AS9120 standards, internal QMS procedures, and customer requirements.
- Lead internal audits and support external audits from customers, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure al l calibration, testing equipment, and quality tools are maintained according to standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Implement lean methodologies, Six Sigma tools, and other improvement initiatives.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to improve processes and reduce defects.
Leadership & Team Development
- Train, coach, and mentor quality personnel to ensure strong technical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support career development.
- Manage staffing levels across shifts to ensure adequate quality coverage.
Customer & Supplier Interface
- Serve as point of contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and audits.
- Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspections, SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests), and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product introductions, change control, and validation.
Technical Attributes and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Experience: + 5 years in supplier quality or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment Preferred in Aerospace or propulsion systems industry.
- 3+ years managerial experience.
- Effective planning, leadership, and time management.
- Ability to resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
- Proficiency in Quality tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, SPC, Control Plan, FMEA. Understanding manufacturing processes, mechanical system and assembly operations.
- General knowledge for the use of GD&T; to verify that parts meet the specified tolerances using tools such as CMMs, Calipers and micrometers, Optical comparators, and a clear criterion for pass/fail decisions defined on design documents.
- Willingness and documentation to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice (American visa and Passport)
- Spanish and English proficient.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED:
- Full understanding and training evidence for AS9145 APQP-PPAP.
- Familiarity with QMS standards. AS9100, AS9120,
