Job Overview

Plan A Technologies is seeking a proactive, hands-on Solutions Architect with deep experience designing and building technology solutions for U.S. hospitals and health insurance companies/payers. This is a highly technical, client-facing role for someone who understands the complexity of the U.S. healthcare ecosystem and can translate clinical, operational, payer, and regulatory requirements into scalable, secure, production-ready solutions.

Candidates must have direct experience architecting solutions for U.S. healthcare providers and/or health insurers. General healthcare tech experience alone is not sufficient. We are specifically looking for someone who understands how hospitals and payers operate, including their workflows, data environments, integrations, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.

You will work across business, product, architecture, and engineering teams to design enterprise-grade solutions from discovery through implementation, with particular emphasis on healthcare interoperability, EHR/EMR integrations, claims and member data, clinical data, and HIPAA-compliant systems.

Please note: You must have at least 10+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in a Solutions Architect or Technical Lead role, plus substantial hands-on experience building solutions for U.S. hospitals and/or health insurance companies.

Job Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end solution architecture, from discovery and requirements gathering through implementation and production delivery.
- Design scalable, secure, highly available, and HIPAA-compliant architectures for hospitals, health insurers, and other complex U.S. healthcare organizations.
- Translate complex clinical, payer, claims, member, and healthcare operational workflows into effective technical solutions.
- Serve as a senior technical partner to healthcare clients, communicating confidently with executives, product leaders, engineering teams, clinical stakeholders, and operational teams.
- Lead architectural decisions involving healthcare data, system integration, interoperability, APIs, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Design and oversee integrations with EHR/EMR platforms and other healthcare systems, using standards including HL7 and FHIR.
- Ensure solutions meet applicable U.S. healthcare security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.

- Architect systems that securely manage sensitive healthcare information, including PHI, clinical data, member data, claims data, and related information.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to guide implementation and ensure adherence to architectural, security, performance, scalability, and reliability standards.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Identify architectural risks, dependencies, integration challenges, and delivery blockers early and proactively drive solutions.
- Contribute to technical discovery, estimates, architecture documentation, solution diagrams, technology selection, and long-term technical strategy.
- Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, solution presentations, and client-facing discovery sessions.

Experience

- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with strong expertise in C#/.NET.
- 3+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect, Software Architect, or senior Technical Lead, with responsibility for architecture and delivery decisions.
- Significant direct experience designing and building technology solutions for U.S. hospitals and/or health insurance companies/payers.
- Strong understanding of the technology environments, operational processes, and business workflows used by U.S. healthcare providers and insurers.
- Experience working with clinical systems, payer platforms, healthcare data platforms, or similarly complex healthcare environments.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, PHI, healthcare security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with healthcare data such as clinical records, patient information, eligibility, enrollment, claims, member data, provider data, or related datasets.
- Strong experience designing integration-heavy and data-intensive enterprise systems, including REST APIs, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP,

including designing secure and compliant cloud environments.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security, identity and access management, encryption, privacy, and data protection.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development lifecycle practices.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, distributed environment and drive initiatives without waiting for detailed direction.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with distributed or global engineering teams is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- High degree of initiative, ownership, and drive.
