Role: Data Engineer (Denodo)

A leading enterprise consultancy is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with specialist expertise in Denodo to support key delivery programmes within the CPG sector.

You will design, build, and maintain high-performance semantic layers, translate complex business requirements into governed data products, and optimise query performance across modern multi-source cloud architectures.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain the Denodo semantic layer, publishing governed, reusable views and data products to the Data Catalog and Data Marketplace.
- Optimise end-to-end query performance utilising execution-trace analysis, cost-based optimisation, caching strategies, and pushdown delegation across AWS, Redshift, and Oracle.
- Build and curate gold-layer dimensional models, star schemas, and certified metrics to serve as the single point of consumption for reporting and analytics teams.
- Integrate diverse enterprise data sources into the virtualisation layer while defining robust connection, security, and refresh protocols.
- Support visual analytics teams by tuning the consumption layer for Power BI and Tableau,



balancing live vs import trade-offs to meet strict dashboard SLAs.
- Maintain and enhance physical ingestion and transformation pipelines upstream of the virtual layer using AWS Glue and Informatica.
- Provide L2/L3 technical support for the virtualisation platform, leading incident analysis, cache refactoring, and workload tuning.

Required Experience & Skills

- Extensive hands-on experience designing logical architectures in Denodo (base, derived, and interface views) with strict separation of layers.
- Strong background building semantic layers, certified KPIs, hierarchies, and self-service data products.
- Advanced SQL capabilities, including complex analytical querying, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Deep knowledge of query acceleration, smart cache management, summary views, and execution-plan debugging.
- Solid understanding of modern data architecture paradigms, including Medallion (bronze/silver/gold), Data Mesh, and Lakehouse concepts.
- Experience with upstream integration tools such as AWS Glue (PySpark) or Informatica (IDMC/PowerCenter) is advantageous.
- Denodo Platform 8 or 9 certifications (Developer, Administrator, or Architect) are strongly preferred.
