We are seeking an experienced Lead Senior Accountant to join a growing organization operating in the real estate and senior living industries.This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who combines hands-on general ledger and financial reporting experience with an audit and controls mindset.
The Lead Senior Accountant will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of accounting activity across multiple entities.In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this position will help identify accounting discrepancies, evaluate processes and internal controls, support audit readiness, and ensure financial information is accurate, complete, and properly supported.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities across multiple entitiesPrepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesReview general ledger activity and investigate unusual transactions, discrepancies, or unexplained variancesPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and trial balancesPerform balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, liabilities, equity, payroll, and other key accountsPrepare variance analysis and provide clear explanations of actual versus budget resultsReconcile financial information between accounting, payroll, banking, operational, and other systemsReview accounting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supportIdentify accounting errors, control gaps, and process weaknesses and recommend corrective actionsHelp develop, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controlsSupport external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, documentation,



and responses to auditor requestsPerform audit-style testing and review of selected transactions and account activity when necessaryAssist with fixed asset accounting and maintenancePartner with the Controller and other members of the accounting team to resolve complex accounting mattersProvide review and guidance to accounting team members as neededParticipate in special accounting, audit, and process-improvement projectsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field4+ years of progressive accounting and/or audit experienceStrong general ledger and month-end close experienceExperience preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and financial statementsStrong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principlesExperience identifying accounting discrepancies and researching complex transactionsUnderstanding of internal controls and audit proceduresPublic accounting or external/internal audit experience is a strong plusExperience working with multiple entities or locations is preferredSenior living, healthcare, real estate, or other multi-location industry experience is preferredSage Intacct experience is a plusAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsStrong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detailAbility to independently identify issues, research root causes,



and recommend solutionsStrong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsComfortable working both independently and collaboratively with accounting and operational teamsIdeal CandidateThe adecuado candidate is a technically strong accountant who naturally approaches the numbers with an auditor's mindset.
