Designs and develops network systems for enterprise, data center, and cloud environments while building
software solutions in Python
to automate network operations, infrastructure lifecycle management, telemetry collection, and operational workflows. Designs and implements reusable automation frameworks, APIs, operational services, and tooling that integrate with network infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management platforms. Develops dashboards, monitoring capabilities, testing frameworks, and operational tooling to improve network reliability, scalability, and engineering efficiency while supporting Oracle Corporate Network and Security Operations through incident, change, capacity, and reliability management.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design, Development, and Validation
Designs and develops standard network systems supporting enterprise, data center, and cloud-based networking environments independently.
Validates production networks and assists in scaling use cases.
Participates in network solution design and validation activities.
Collaborates with vendors and internal teams to validate network configurations, hardware, firmware, software, and cloud network code.
Contributes to operational playbooks supporting incident response, standard changes, troubleshooting, and investigations.
Implements guided improvements to optimize network processes and operational efficiency.
Automation and Software Development
Designs and develops
Python applications, reusable libraries, APIs, and automation frameworks
supporting network operations and infrastructure lifecycle management.
Develops software solutions that automate network provisioning, validation, compliance, monitoring, testing, and operational workflows.
Automates production, laboratory, and large-scale operational tasks using
Python as the primary development language
, integrating with infrastructure pipelines, APIs, Ansible, and configuration management platforms.
Develops telemetry pipelines, dashboards, data collection services, and alerting mechanisms that improve network observability and operational visibility.
Supports Infrastructure as Code (IaC), zero-touch provisioning, and software-driven network automation initiatives while continuously improving engineering tooling and operational efficiency.
Testing and Quality Assurance
Develops and implements standalone test cases and test strategies.
Guides junior engineers in testing practices.
Performs break-fix validation and contributes to post-event root cause analysis.
Conducts L1 network change reviews and communicates changes for change management processes.
Executes compliance and readiness testing.
Supports Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) data collection and automation improvements.
Monitoring and Reliability
Implements monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, and alerting systems to maintain network health and service level objectives.
Develops
Python-based operational tools
that enable rapid diagnosis, troubleshooting, and remediation of network incidents.
Supports operational incident response and root cause investigations.
Develops tools that improve frontline operational response to network failures.
Supports 24x7 operational activities through rotational on-call coverage as required.
Cross-Team Collaboration and Leadership
Collaborates with project and program managers to deliver deployment milestones.
Provides guidance to junior engineers on routine technical issues.
Contributes to customer communications, incident documentation, and root cause analysis.
Participates in software architecture and technical roadmap discussions.
Partners with internal teams to ensure adherence to networking standards.
Performance and Capacity Management
Analyzes network performance metrics including latency, throughput, and packet loss to improve network efficiency.
Uses capacity, security, and performance metrics to support infrastructure growth planning.
Supports corporate, enterprise, and cloud networking environments while contributing to network reliability improvements.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and 2+ years of experience in network engineering, software development, cloud programming, network automation, or enterprise network operations;
or
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field;
or
6+ years of relevant experience in network engineering, software development, cloud programming,
network automation, or networking research and development.
Technical Qualifications
Strong experience developing software in
Python
, including automation frameworks, reusable libraries, APIs, operational tooling, and network automation solutions.
Experience supporting enterprise, corporate, or cloud networking environments.
Knowledge of at least three of the following technologies: Network Automation, Firewalls, Layer 2/Layer 3 Switching, Load Balancers, VPN, OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, REST APIs, zero-touch provisioning, and configuration management.
Experience supporting incident, change, capacity, and problem management.
Experience with ticketing and incident/request tracking systems.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to support mission-critical production environments and participate in a 24x7 operational support rotation.
