OVERVIEW

As a Senior Business Analyst at Capmation, you operate as a Business Analyst and Product Owner, owning business clarity, backlog strategy, business process understanding, decision quality, and technical feasibility across complex initiatives. In addition to Business Analyst expectations, you are accountable for managing ambiguity, business risk, and elevating standards, ensuring solutions are both valuable and viable.

You are responsible not only for backlog health and UAT outcomes, but for how effectively business processes are understood, translated, and improved through delivery. While Project Managers own delivery execution and facilitation, you own business correctness, priority tradeoffs, and reinforcement of Capmation's delivery standards.

This role represents the transition from execution to senior-level judgment, influence, technical fluency, and organizational impact. Demonstrated technical understanding and process-level thinking are required to progress beyond this level.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:
Own backlog strategy for complex initiatives: accountable for prioritization, sequencing, and tradeoff decisions across competing business and technical constraints.
Translate complex business problems and processes into build-ready, technically viable work: produce high-quality epics, features, stories, and acceptance criteria that reflect true business workflows and outcomes.
Ensure business process clarity: understand, document, and validate current- and future-state business processes impacted by delivery.
Maintain backlog health across all work items: including user stories, defects, UAT feedback, and change requests.
Set the standard for story readiness: ensure work meets Capmation's Definition of Ready and maintain a backlog refined at least two sprints ahead.
Lead advanced discovery and whiteboard sessions:

drive alignment across business and technical stakeholders, challenging assumptions and surfacing process gaps.
Validate technical feasibility early: partner with Tech Leads to identify architectural, integration, data, and non-functional impacts tied to business processes.
Represent business priorities at a senior level: proactively manage tradeoffs between value, risk, process impact, and technical complexity.
Own UAT outcomes for complex releases: ensure validation confirms that business processes function end-to-end, not just individual features.
Maintain delivery awareness & governance: anticipate scope, dependency, and risk impacts and partner with PMs on mitigation.
Mentor and elevate Business Analysts: guide others in process thinking, requirements quality, and decision-making.
Contribute to Capmation's maturity: identify recurring process breakdowns (client or internal) and actively propose and support improvements.
Accountable for enforcing Capmation's required internal processes on assigned initiatives, including time tracking, PTO requests, project roll-on/off notifications, and use of systems of record.
Models and reinforces process adherence: ensures standards are followed and escalates recurring gaps or risks.
SOFT SKILLS
Judgment & Decision-Making: makes high-impact decisions in ambiguous, technically and process-complex situations.
Influence: drives alignment across clients and teams without relying on authority.
Leadership Presence: provides calm,

structured guidance during uncertainty, change, or delivery risk.
Advanced Communication: translates business processes and technical constraints into clear tradeoffs for senior stakeholders.
Accountability: holds self and others to a high bar for quality, readiness, and follow-through.
