Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita
Opening in early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground and construction is well underway on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico. Staying true to the brand’s mission of creating elevated places and spaces that are inspired by a destination, the resort’s exterior and interiors will pay homage to the local culture with a contemporary twist.
This beachfront resort will feature 244 guest rooms and suites and two 4-bedroom villas with sweeping views of the Bay of Banderas. Complementing the local area’s many attractions and activities, the resort will offer three original restaurant concepts, a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms, two retail shops, multiple pools including adult-only and family-friendly options, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness center, and a kids club. Boasting over 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will feature a 6,000 square foot ballroom, an open-air pavilion, multiple event lawns and dedicated meeting rooms, all of which provide breathtaking ocean views.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the resort’s payroll, verifying figures, postings, and documents for accuracy while maintaining, updating, and safeguarding all employee payroll records and files in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role works closely with the Director of Finance to ensure payroll, tax, and benefits information is processed correctly and that employees and managers receive timely, accurate support on payroll-related matters from the resort’s pre-opening phase onward.
Essential Functions
- Verify figures, postings, and documents for proper entry,
mathematical accuracy, and appropriate codes.
- Organize, secure, and maintain all payroll files, records, and related documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Record, store, and/or analyze computerized financial and payroll information.
- Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables.
- Maintain, update, create, secure, and archive employee payroll records and files (e.g., new hires, transfers, prior errors, retroactive increases, and sick pay).
- Review, verify, and reconcile disabilities, hours worked, pay adjustments, and other pay-related information, and post information to designated records.
- Back up transaction files and transmit them to the payroll system by date and time in accordance with company procedures.
- Review the payroll register from the payroll system for accuracy.
- Calculate employee wages and deductions (e.g., union dues, insurance, and payroll taxes) and enter wages and deductions into the payroll system.
- Enter special payments with proper supporting documentation into the payroll system.
- Provide information to employees and managers/supervisors on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective bargaining agreement provisions.
- Handle payroll inquiries from associates and managers/supervisors in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and maintain the supporting file with payroll payment signatures.
- Organize and review payroll cut-off and payment periods.
- Stay continuously up to date on labor and social security matters.
- Prepare files for social security, federal, and state tax filings.
- Ensure that all payroll payments are correctly loaded and applied to each associate.
- Prepare the monthly management and non-management wage report.
- Support month-end close deliverables related to payroll.
- Secure and archive payroll records for the appropriate retention period in accordance with state, federal, and company guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant payroll experience.
- Positive attitude and genuine desire to provide attentive, friendly service.
- Strong computer proficiency, including payroll and accounting systems.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time-management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
