- Develop, optimize, and standardize heat treatment manufacturing processes.
- Oversee operation and performance of continuous and batch furnaces.
- Ensure compliance with CQI-9 and applicable quality standards.
- Drive process improvements related to carburizing, quenching, tempering, and annealing.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Manage capital projects, equipment acquisition, installation, and commissioning.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate activities with suppliers, technical centers, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with Cummins safety, ergonomic, and manufacturing standards.
- Support audit activities, customer requirements, and certification processes.
- Lead operational and engineering teams within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.Required Technical QualificationsHeat Treatment Processes- Minimum 3 years of experience in heat treatment operations.
- Experience with:- Continuous furnaces.
- Batch furnaces.
- Automotive heat treatment processes.
- Strong knowledge of:- Carburizing.
- Quenching.
- Tempering.
- Annealing.
- Pyrometry experience.
- Metallography interpretation and analysis.




- Metallurgical inspection knowledge.Quality & Core Tools- Experience with:- PFMEA.
- Control Plans.
- Root Cause Analysis.
- Problem-solving methodologies:- 8D.
- 5 Why's.
- Ishikawa Diagrams.
- Pareto Analysis.
- CQI-9 knowledge and application.Manufacturing Engineering- Manufacturing process design and optimization.
- Equipment implementation and industrialization.
- Capital project management.
- Manufacturing standards development.
- Workstation and material flow optimization.Continuous Improvement- Lean Manufacturing.

- Productivity and efficiency improvements.Leadership Experience- Direct leadership of approximately 23 production associates in a 24/7 operation.
- Coordination of 6 engineering-level peers or specialists.
- Team development and technical coaching.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.EducationBachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline, including:- Industrial Engineering- Mechanical Engineering- Electromechanical Engineering- Mechatronics Engineering- Manufacturing Engineering- Electronic Engineering- Or related disciplinesLanguage RequirementsIntermediate English or higher.Must be comfortable interacting with:- U.S.-based suppliers.
- Cross-functional global teams.
- Cummins Technology Center in Michigan.Additional Requirements- Approximately 10% travel availability.
- Occasional travel to the United States (primarily Michigan).
