Job purpose Borg Warner Power Drive Systems is currently looking for an “agile, results driven” individual to join as SLP MANAGER, PROGRAM MANAGEMENT. In this role, this individual is responsible for functionally managing and leading a team of program & launch managers within the SLP site ensuring the team is meeting or exceeding internal and external (to Borg Warner) expectations including project timing, technical content (product and process), cost, and quality from award to production launch. The Manager, Program Management will report to the PDS Director of Sales & Program Management, Americas. This role may include multiple program types: New business pursuits New product or new business launches Changes to Production applications Borg Warner PDS products that this role may support include: x EV Drive Units, Electric Motors, Power Inverters, Electronics Key responsibilities Functionally manage and lead a team of both program and launch managers responsible for execution of SLP specific programs across multiple product lines. Define & implement a clear and executable vision for the team. Promotes implementation of the LA/GS Model through personal leadership and example Assist with resolving internal & external issues, remove roadblocks limiting the team, and report any critical issues to PDS Americas Leadership Team [ALT] Ensure program teams have necessary processes, resources and tools to succeed. Communicates expectations & information to the team in a simple, clear, and concise manner. Functional Excellence Drives accountability within the team to deliver on internal & external program commitments. Ensures a robust and efficient program management discipline is followed, including compliance to the PDS Product Development Process [PDP] Raise the expectations of the SLP program management team by developing & institutionalizing an entrepreneurial spirit within the team. Acts as the liaison between Program Managers located at PDS Technical Centers and SLP Operations. Improves communication and ensures SLP Operational requirements are addressed by Sales, Product Engineering, and Program Management. Conducts frequent team meetings, including program team meetings, monthly functional reviews, joint Borg Warner/customer meetings, and EOT review meetings. Manages program risks & issues in a transparent and constructive manner. Escalates and drives issues appropriately (both internally and externally) to secure the necessary support to resolve issues. Respectfully challenges the organization for key information, rationales, root causes, evidence, desired outcomes, and next steps. Pro-actively manages conflict.
Deals with conflict swiftly, constructively, and decisively, inside and outside of Borg Warner, regardless of levels in the organization. Deals with conflict in an unbiased and arbitrating manner. Seeks compromise, but does not lose sight of the program objectives. Team Member Development Provide appropriate constructive feedback where necessary to help team members become more efficient & productive with their performance. Supports employee identified development plans. Ensure necessary talent & skill levels are present within the SLP team. Evaluates and reviews team member performance and provides input to the Talent Management System [TMS]. Customer Relationship Management. Represents Borg Warner PDS credibly in front of all levels of the customer organization. Establishes and develops key customer relationships, both internally and externally. Manages and ensures high level of customer satisfaction for each of responsible programs. Drives the APQP process related to Operations to meet cost, timing, and delivery objectives within a IATF 16949 environment. Direct customer interaction regarding APQP initiatives, change management, and launch readiness activities at SLP facilities. Maintains a Positive Attitude Approaches program execution and challenges with a professional, positive attitude. Respectfully challenges all levels within the organization when appropriate. What we’re looking for Education Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in business, engineering, or manufacturing. 0 to 3 years of Program Management experience, with at least 5 years of demonstrated experience working on cross-functional teams. Technical Knowledge Advanced Engineering or Business Degree. Strong Program Management skills, including resource, task, and budget planning. High level of technical competence, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Understanding of managerial finance as it relates to program and business metrics. Solid knowledge of engineering and manufacturing functions within the automotive supplier industry.
