About the Role We are looking for a Senior Electrical MEP Designer / Engineer to join a U.S.-based architecture and engineering team supporting commercial building projects across the United States. This is a senior, hands-on production role . The right person should be able to take a project from architectural backgrounds and design criteria through coordinated electrical construction documents with limited supervision.
The team works in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects moving simultaneously, so this role requires someone who is technically strong, highly organized, responsive, and comfortable producing accurate work quickly.
This is not primarily a BIM coordination or project management position . We are looking for someone who is still actively designing and producing electrical building systems in Revit.

What You'll Do Independently develop electrical designs for commercial building projects.
Produce electrical construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD .
Design power and lighting systems, including:
Load calculations
Panel schedules
Branch circuits
Feeder and conductor sizing
Breaker and protection selection
Power distribution
Lighting and receptacle layouts
Equipment connections
Single-line diagrams
Grounding and related electrical systems
Coordinate electrical systems with architecture, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines.
Take projects through design development, construction documents, permitting, revisions, and issuance.
Review drawings and calculations for technical accuracy and code compliance.
Resolve coordination issues, RFIs, comments, and design revisions efficiently.
Manage several projects at different stages while meeting deadlines and planned design hours.
Communicate directly and clearly with project managers, engineers, architects, and other team members.

Support or review the work of junior designers when necessary while remaining personally involved in production.
Identify issues early and work independently to keep projects moving.
Must-Have Qualifications 6–9+ years of relevant electrical building design experience , with clear senior-level technical capability.
Strong recent experience designing electrical MEP systems for buildings .
Currently or recently hands-on with electrical production , not primarily working in management or oversight.
Ability to independently develop an electrical project with limited supervision.
Strong hands-on proficiency with Revit , specifically for electrical/MEP production.
Proficiency with AutoCAD .
Recent experience with commercial building projects .
Strong understanding of electrical construction documents and how to take a project through a complete CD package.
Experience performing electrical calculations and making vigente engineering/design decisions rather than only modeling information supplied by another engineer.
Strong multidisciplinary MEP coordination experience.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong English communication skills , both verbal and written.
Ability to overlap consistently with U.S. Central Time business hours.

Strongly Preferred Experience with retail, restaurant, QSR, tenant improvement, hospitality,

or similar fast-turn commercial projects .
Experience supporting U.S.-based architecture or engineering projects .
Familiarity with the NEC, NFPA standards, and U.S. electrical code requirements .
Experience with permitting and responding to AHJ comments.
Experience with repeat-client, prototype, rollout, or multi-site programs.
Demonstrated ability to move several smaller projects through production quickly.
Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks, or similar coordination/review tools.
Experience reviewing junior designers' work and performing technical QA/QC.

What Success Looks Like A successful person in this role can receive an architectural project, understand the scope, and independently develop the electrical design and construction documents without requiring extensive technical direction .
You should be comfortable moving quickly between projects, making sound electrical design decisions, coordinating with other disciplines, communicating problems early, and delivering high-quality work within the planned project hours.

This Role Is Probably Not the Right Fit If Your recent experience is primarily BIM modeling, BIM coordination, or VDC rather than electrical design.
You usually receive panel schedules, circuiting, conductor sizes, load calculations, or other engineering decisions from another electrical engineer and mainly translate them into Revit.
You have moved primarily into project management and are no longer regularly producing electrical drawings yourself.
Your electrical experience is mostly industrial, utility, transmission, substation, or data-center work without meaningful recent commercial building experience.
You have strong Revit skills but limited experience independently designing electrical building systems.
