Durango School District is accepting applications for Bus Monitor in the Transportation Department to assist bus drivers with student supervision while in route, maintain student conduct reports, and assist bus driver with passenger safety during daily routes. This position is 5 hours per day. The Bus Monitors typically work from 6:00am through 8:30 am in the morning. In the afternoon the Bus Monitor starts at 2:30pm and gets done at 5:00pm. Position begins August 08/17/2026.

For the 26/27 SY, this position includes a one-time $1125 bonus for staff newly hired to the school district (pro-rated for late start).

- Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct by monitoring student behavior, helping set a positive tone, redirecting inappropriate behavior.
- Assist students, as needed, in loading and unloading the bus. Load and unload passengers in wheelchairs, strollers, etc. using the bus lift. Maneuver chairs on ramps, curbs, and inside buildings.
- When working with students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504’s, coordinate with the school staff and Student Support Services departmen
