Job DescriptionAccountant 1The Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for reviewing and approving capital expenditures (CAPEX) for accuracy and completeness in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
This position manages full-cycle fixed asset transactional work—including capitalization, asset transfers, and retirements—requiring active communication and collaboration with plant and project contacts.Key Responsibilities & DutiesFinancial Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare journal entries, maintain individual fixed asset roll-forward schedules, and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts in compliance with GAAP and company guidelines.CAPEX Management: Review and approve capital expenditure requests; ensure transactions meet capitalization thresholds and criteria.Asset Lifecycle Processing: Execute day-to-day transactional activities including capitalization, internal transfers, disposals, and retirements.Cross-Functional Communication: Partner directly with plant managers, project leads,
and department heads to verify asset status and resolve discrepancies.Time Management: Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet strict CAPEX tracking and period-end close deadlines.Adaptability & Collaboration: Work collaboratively within the team while maintaining flexibility to adjust pace as project volumes fluctuate.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis.Technical Skills:Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word).
Understanding and working knowledge of GAAP standards.
Soft Skills:Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
