Accountant (Nearshore, Contract)Reports to: Controller | Works alongside: Accountant | Location: Remote (Mexico) | Classification: Independent Contractor

Position OverviewWe are seeking a contract-based Accountant to own the accounting close for our title insurance entities. Prior experience in the title insurance industry is a plus but is not required — what matters most at hire is a proven, capable multi-entity accountant who can own a close process end-to-end under deadline. Title-specific work (regulatory filings, underwriter remittance reconciliation, production-software data flows) is taught through a structured, roughly six-month training and knowledge-transfer period.

This role is the primary preparer for the title-entity function — close, accounts payable, budgeting, and regulatory compliance filings — working under the direct review of the Controller against a hard month-end deadline. The position also provides support coverage on other real estate related entities alongside the existing Accountant. This is an ownership role, not a data-entry role: the person in this seat is expected to run the title close independently once trained, flag issues proactively, and communicate workload clearly in a remote, same-day-review environment.

Key Responsibilities• Own the monthly close for the title-entity portfolio (multiple title company locations), including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and preparation of location-level financial statements for Controller review.

- Process accounts payable for the title entities, including coding, approval routing, and vendor reconciliation.
- Prepare and maintain budgets for title entities and support variance analysis against actuals.
- Prepare periodic regulatory and compliance filings for the title function, including TDI call reports, TG-1 GARC remittance, and similar state/industry filings, under Controller review.
- Reconcile underwriter remittances across multiple underwriters and entities on a recurring monthly cadence.
- Consolidate and post disbursement and settlement data exported from title production software (e.g., Qualia) into the accounting system,

following established file-naming and consolidation conventions.
- Prepare title premium and similar transactional journal entries tied to title production activity.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements, and tie out revenue and cost-of-goods-sold activity between title production software and the general ledger.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions between title entities and related entities, maintaining compliance with internal controls.
- Provide backup and support coverage for other real estate related entities alongside the existing Accountant.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation for assigned entities as needed.
- Proactively communicate workload, close status, and open items to the Controller on a daily/weekly cadence appropriate to close timing.
- Participate in a structured training and knowledge-transfer period (approximately six months) to reach full independent ownership of the function.
- Support other projects as needed, including process documentation and workflow automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications• English level C1+.

- Experience working directly with U.S. companies in an accounting role.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
- 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a multi-entity environment.
- 2+ years of experience with QuickBooks Online, including class-dimension tracking across multiple entities.
- Experience gathering and reconciling data for GL posting from web-based production or CRM software such as Qualia, AppFolio, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to own a close process end-to-end against a fixed monthly deadline,

with same-day or next-day review turnaround.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Lookup formulas, and large-file data manipulation.
- Demonstrated proficiency with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Ability to proactively maintain and clearly communicate workload and close status to the Controller in a remote setting.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Preferred QualificationsNone of the following are required to be hired — they are a plus, and the title-specific items among them will be taught during the training ramp regardless of prior exposure.

• Demonstrated ability to learn a new regulatory or compliance filing requirement independently and take ownership of it quickly.

• Experience in the broader real estate industry — brokerage, property management, development, or title.

• Experience with multi-party or multi-source reconciliations comparable in structure to underwriter remittance reconciliation.

• Direct experience in the title insurance industry, including TDI reporting (call reports, T-S5, etc.), TG-1 GARC remittance, etc.

• Master's degree in accounting or finance.

• Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence tools (e.g., Claude/Cowork) in the accounting close process; additional consideration for experience designing API connections between QuickBooks Online and production/CRM software.

• Eagerness to identify and implement efficiency improvements to existing processes in partnership with the Controller.

Additional Information• Classification: This position is engaged on an independent contractor basis.

- Compensation: $1,800 - $2,100 per Month - paid bi-monthly, electronically, in USD.
- Benefits: This position does not include health or ancillary benefits.
- Location: Fully remote, for a company headquartered in the U.S. Central time zone.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. CST, to preserve overlap with the Controller during the review cycle.
- Time Off: 8 local country holidays (Mexico) and 10 vacation days.
