The EDS Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of vehicle electrical architecture under her/his responsibility. The EDS Systems Engineer is also responsible for design improvements that lead to quality increase, cost and weight optimizations.
Responsibilities
- 4 days on site in GTBC Ford México (Naucalpan, México)
- Get Logical Schematics from Systems Integration.
- Develop, maintain and release physical schematics from Logical Schematics.
- Electrical Distribution System tool knowledge (E3 Zuken Cable or Mentor Graphics Capital Design).
- Travel Flexibility.
- Perform wire sizing selection to ensure standards, specifications, and guidelines are met.
- Generate wire optioning based on PDL and complexity analysis
- Assign Inline Connector numbers per engineering guidelines.
- Develop and maintain in-line connector book.
- Lead harness to harness in-line connector selection, define pin outs and terminal sizing per engineering guidelines.
- Optimize Inline partitioning and usage based on module packaging
- Develop and maintain vehicle level topology.
- Develop and maintain EDS Ground and EDS CAN topology
- Develop specialty cable list and topology
- Obtain and maintain up to date High Current Cable Topology and Architecture Topology from Pre-TSC.
- Develop and Sign off ECAE Plan
- Upload and maintain ECAE Reports in VSEM
- Lead resolution of Not Met CAE Analyses
- Develop Phase 1 of ECAR Matrix based on Topology and address Restricted Connectors impacting EDS Systems Design
- Perform optimization studies, i.e.
Inline
Relocation,
Module Relocations, etc. to minimize wire length and cost
- Support Compatibility Reviews with System Integration and D&Rs;
- Provide input and generate proposals on giveaway strategies to optimize giveaway vs part count.
- Perform Dual Harness Complexity Analyses.
- Perform engineering cost estimates for EDS Systems Changes.
- Evaluate Program DTs to insure compatibility with Physical Schematics
- Approve DTs in VSEM
- Generate DT List
- Get DT Status for each milestone from TPP
- Lead EDS Systems Deliverables in EDS TDR and support Systems Integration TDR
- Obtain vehicle fusing and grounding strategies from Systems Integration
- Develop and approve Re-DV for EDS Systems changes
- Perform EDS Netcom Checklist
- Assess all DCRs for EDS Systems Impact

Qualifications
- Engineering Degree (electrical desirable) or related disciplines.
- Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral).
- Electrical Distribution System tool knowledge (E3 Zuken Cable or Mentor Graphics Capital Design).
- Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
- Time and Project Management.
- Proactive.
- Detail oriented.
- Analytical thinking.
- Process oriented.
- Knowledge of Ford GPDS desirable.
- Understanding of feature partitioning desirable.
- Understanding of automotive systems desirable.
