About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, scalable API development, database engineering, and SQL performance optimization.

The idóneo candidate is a hands-on engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You will design and develop reliable, production-ready backend solutions while working with data-intensive applications and distributed systems.

Experience with Big Data and Kafka is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Apply strong Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles and established software design patterns.
- Design and optimize relational databases, SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-access solutions.
- Analyze and resolve complex database and application performance issues.
- Develop solutions for data-intensive applications and high-volume workloads.
- Participate in requirements analysis and validate technical requirements before implementation.
- Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and production-ready code.
- Develop and maintain automated tests as an integral part of the software development lifecycle.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Perform thorough pre-release verification to ensure software quality and production readiness.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and proactively identify potential problems.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineers,



technical teams, and stakeholders while working with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
- Advanced experience with Java and backend software development.
- Strong expertise in Spring / Spring Boot.
- Proven experience designing and developing scalable REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles and software design patterns.
- Deep knowledge of database design, SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to solve complex, data-intensive technical problems.
- Experience developing and supporting production-ready software.
- Strong understanding of software testing and automated testing practices.
- Experience with code reviews, requirements validation, debugging, and pre-release verification.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate effectively with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Big Data technologies.
- Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven or distributed architectures.
- Experience working with high-volume data processing or distributed systems.
- Experience optimizing applications and databases for scalability and performance.
