Our challenge
We are looking for a Senior Calypso Developer with 8+ years of experience in enterprise software development and strong hands-on expertise in the Calypso platform.
In this role, you will lead the design, development, customization, integration, upgrade, and technical support of Calypso solutions. You will work across the application, integration, database, deployment, and performance layers to deliver robust and scalable solutions for complex trading and risk management environments.
The Role: Production Support Specialist
Responsibilities:
Lead the technical design and development of Calypso solutions using Java and Calypso APIs.
Design and implement complex Calypso customizations, extensions, and technical components.
Develop and enhance Calypso workflows, engines, scheduled tasks, services, panels, event handlers, and batch processes.
Design and develop custom products, pricing components, reports, interfaces, and platform extensions.
- Lead the architecture and implementation of Calypso integrations with internal and external systems using:REST and SOAP APIs
- XML and JSON
- FIX and other financial messaging protocols
- JMS, IBM MQ, Kafka, or similar messaging technologies
Define technical integration patterns, interface standards, error-handling mechanisms, and data-validation processes. Analyze and optimize Calypso application performance, database performance, batch processing, and high-volume transaction processing.
Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, data extraction scripts, and reconciliation processes.
Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex application, database, integration, and production issues.
Provide technical leadership during Calypso upgrades, patches, migrations,
environment refreshes, and platform modernization initiatives.
Review technical designs, source code, deployment plans, and implementation approaches.
Establish and enforce coding, testing, security, performance, and release-management standards.
Develop unit, integration, regression, and automated test solutions.
Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, version control, and release processes.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical guidance across development teams.
Collaborate with architecture, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, database, and production support teams.
Produce and maintain technical documentation covering architecture, customizations, integrations, configurations, deployment procedures, and support processes.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
8+ years of professional software development experience.
5+ years of hands-on Calypso development experience preferred.
Strong expertise in Java, object-oriented programming, design patterns, multithreading, exception handling, debugging, and performance optimization.
Advanced knowledge of Calypso architecture, APIs, technical components, and deployment models.

- Batch and end-of-day processing
- Calypso integrations and interfaces
- Trade lifecycle processing
- Calypso configuration and environment management
Proven experience designing and delivering complex Calypso customizations and integrations.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle or other relational databases, including:Complex SQL
- Query optimization
- Indexing
- Stored procedures
- Data modeling
- Performance troubleshooting
Extensive experience with REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, schema validation, and enterprise integration patterns. Strong knowledge of messaging technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, JMS, or ActiveMQ.
Experience with Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, application monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
Proficiency with Java development and build tools such as Maven, Gradle, Spring, and JUnit.
Experience with Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or comparable development and CI/CD tools.
Strong understanding of software architecture, secure coding,
automated testing, deployment strategies, and release management.
Experience leading technical delivery, design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and provide technical leadership.
Experience with Calypso upgrades, migrations, and major version implementations.
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
Knowledge of financial messaging standards such as FIX or SWIFT is desirable.
Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
