We're searching for a dedicated Plant Nursery Worker to support critical operations on Diego Garcia, maintaining the island's landscaping and environmental assets. Your Key Responsibilities

- You'll be at the heart of our horticultural operations, managing all aspects of plant health and development.
- Your day-to-day work will include seeding, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and potting plants while monitoring their growth and vitality.
- You'll identify and respond quickly to plant diseases, pests, and deterioration, replacing compromised specimens within 48 hours to maintain quality standards.
- Your expertise will extend to transplanting trees, shrubs, and plants across Diego Garcia using proven techniques that ensure their survival and robust growth.
- You'll prepare soil, planters, and garden beds for new projects, manage the loading and transportation of plant materials, and maintain optimal conditions in greenhouses—carefully regulating humidity, temperature, and light exposure.
- Keeping our facilities in top condition is equally important. You'll maintain all nursery and greenhouse equipment, tools, and infrastructure while documenting plant inventory, care schedules, and completed maintenance activities.
- Additional duties consistent with the role will be assigned as needed.

What We're Looking For

You need solid experience or knowledge in horticulture, landscaping,



or plant cultivation with practical skills in seeding, watering, fertilizing, and pruning. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the physical capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions—lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, plus digging, bending, and carrying heavy loads.

You must read, speak, and understand English fluently enough to perform contract duties and follow emergency procedures. A valid passport with at least one year remaining validity is essential, as is your ability to secure necessary country-specific visas and successfully complete all contract medical and security requirements for deployment to a remote overseas location.

Preferred Background

Prior greenhouse, plant nursery, or landscaping experience is a significant advantage. Knowledge of tropical plant species, pest management practices, irrigation systems, and greenhouse operations will strengthen your candidacy.

Working Conditions

You’ll be based on Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory, a remote location supporting U.S. Government operations. The work environment includes outdoor, industrial, warehouse, port, and airfield settings with exposure to high temperatures, humidity, unpredictable weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Your schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational needs.
