Strategic CFO is a consulting company that partners with growing businesses across Texas and the United States. Each Controller is assigned to a dedicated NearSourcing™ client, serving as an integral part of that client's finance team.
This is a full-time, remote position based in Colombia or Mexico. Applicants MUST have a valid passport and a current U.S. visa, as international travel to Houston, Texas is required for onboarding and quarterly thereafter. Candidates who do not currently possess both a valid passport and a valid U.S. visa will not be considered.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a practical, proactive, and highly coachable Controller with exceptional technical accounting knowledge. The adecuado candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and communicates effectively with professionals at all levels of an organization.As part of one of our NearSourcing™ teams, you'll work exclusively with a single client, becoming a trusted member of their finance organization while collaborating with Strategic CFO professionals.
This role requires in-depth knowledge of construction accounting, including the Percentage of Completion (PoC) revenue recognition method and Work-in-Progress (WIP) management. The Controller is also responsible for supervising the accounting team and implementing financial strategies that align with the company’s goals
Position Responsibilities
- Manage financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project budgets and PoC.
- Oversee project accounting, A/R, A/P, and installer payroll operations.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
- Oversee compliance with industry standards and government regulations, ensuring TCC maintains a strong reputation for ethical and legal financial practices.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring full transparency of financial performance and key metrics.
- Support the CFO in managing external accounting services, including tax preparation, audits, and insurance renewals.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the organization has adequate liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain accurate WIP schedules, tracking costs, revenues, and project profitability.
- Conduct variance analysis to ensure project budgets and actuals align.
- Regularly reconcile job costs, revenue, and expenses.
- Additional projects assigned by CFO.
- Perform financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and P&L; forecasting.
- Collaborate closely with your Strategic CFO team and client personnel.
- Be available virtually during normal business hours (Monday-Friday) via Microsoft Teams with camera on.
- Travel to Houston, Texas for onboarding.
- Travel to client locations in the United States approximately once per quarter.
- Perform other accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- CPA, Contador Público, or Chartered Accountant required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Must have recent construction/Project experience, POC /WIP
- Previous Controller or CFO experience required.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including U.S. GAAP.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player with a hands-on attitude.
- Required Travel Documentation
- Experience with Dynamics 365/Business Central is a PLUS
